Going to upgrade my ECU and TCU...
....and I have a 2007 SL55 030. I found a wrecked 2006 SL55. Can I use the ECU and TCU from this car or do I need a 2007 computers? Would like to keep my 030 ECU and factory TCU separate from my mods..
Thank you,
Shaun

the programs you put on them can be changed back and forth. Sounds very expensive to buy more. You should be worried more about getting a good quality program that will give you genuine results

Thank you okbarnett. I can get a 2006 ECU and TCU for $300 from a totaled car. I am sending my ECU and TCU to a proven vendor on this forum. It would be nice just to buy these used components, send them off, then just plug them and in and keep my stock ECU, TCU, and pulley if I ever go back to stock. If I can use the 2006 ECU/TCU that would be great. If not I will keep looking for a 2007 or just send mine that are in the car.
Thanks again.
Cheers!

That would be good news. I was thinking this too... I can then buy the used TCU for $100 and get it programmed. Thanks again BlownV8..

Well here is my follow up. Big thank you to Randy at Eurocharged in Toronto. Got the ECU in yesterday but couldn't take the car for a burn because of rain. Nice day today and went out to wash it. It is noticeably quicker. Very happy with how it is performing. I have not put the upgraded TCU in yet but I'm sure this will help out the power delivery. My experience with Randy through emails was always quick and the advice was excellent. The ECU/TCU were shipped back within a day when they received it. So Randy thanks again. Service from start to finish was great.I would recompensed these guys from my experience.100%
I will post a follow up with the TCU when it is installed. My ECU was from my car but the TCU is from a 2006. I have heard it is not VIN specific so I picked up a used one for $50 from a wrecked car in my city and sent it along with the ECU to Randy. If it doesn't work for whatever reason, the old one will go back in for the time being. If it does the job, I will have my stock spare.
I think after the TCU is in and working with the ECU to put the power down, I will be where I am at with the ride. I may upgrade the HE and pump but in the west of Canada (Vancouver) we have nice cool air to ram down the intakes of the SL (even though the last three summers have been scorchers). I feel the car is close to 2013 SL63's in power which is where I want to be. Headers may follow but no rush. Considering I picked up my car for very little, I have quite a boulevard bruiser.
Cheers!
