Am i asking too much? Autotradercom had price ranges from 115K to 135K within 100 miles of me. I figured i was on the low end.

Yes and no; I can buy a 2005 at sticker with 0 miles. So, for about 8K more, I get a 2 year newer car, with the exact options that I want. Your's would probably only be worth it if it had all the options (and originally stickered for $140K or so), otherwise, why would I look twice at yours?

That said, I've also seen the ads, so it doesn't seem to outrageous. I don't know how to explain the discrpency however. Maybe there are a bunch of people who don't have a MB dealer in their town or something... and/or the only people advertising in the other places are dealers, charging dealer price instead of private party.

I paid my new SL 55 in May 2003 at sticker price that time. They must be selling the brand new below sticker now. But at the same time, the sticker price is a lot higher for 2005 then 2003. If I were you, I will sell it at $5000~10000 below your sticker.

If any 55 is below sticker it is very little as there is only 7% in any MB. This happens when there are a few lying around towards the end of the model year. There are virtually none left though. The 4 my dealer had including one on the water that he swapped for me are all gone.

Hey Todd, why are you getting rid of it? What's next?

Maybe you should take it out to Moroso once before you sell it!!!

I lowered the price to $109K and it will come out next friday in autotrader. I really dont expect to sell it quite frankly. Why would anyone want a 1 year old car; if they can afford $109K they can afford $130K for a new one?

Dr Chill, im selling it because i have enjoyed it immensely but i just bought a new BMW X5 4.4 which i love as an everyday driver and feel much safer in with all the crazy drivers here. As for Moroso, i will be going to the AMG Challenge next friday at Homestead Speedway and hopefully ill have a little fun.

I am not sure Autotrader is a good place. I don't think any regular Autotrader readers can afford it. Maybe on e-bay, newspaper classify, or sell it back to MB dealer (ask them to sell for you)

Not to sound rude or anything, but I hope you know the HUGE difference between the X5 and SL55! They are nothing alike. For the price you paid for your SL55, you could have three X5's. Do you plan to go for a 65?

no offense taken....i know they are completely different cars and there is a huge price difference(among other things). I am not blinded or into getting into a huge discussion similar to the SL55 vs. DB9 thread.

The 2004 X5 4.4 is loaded and stickered at $71K. I bought it for $2500 under sticker. I plan on getting an SL65 if i can.

The X5 is really $71K? I thought it was around $50K...don't you think you could have gotten a better price on the X5 considering it's been out since 2000? I'm really surprised to hear that the X5 can be as expensive as a 7 series!!!!

Sorry i made a mistake on the price...sticker went for around $68K(not much difference). Yea, the X5 4.4 can get up there with all the options. This one even had Sirius radio and a CD changer from my dealer. If you load one up on edmunds.com you can see how high it can get up there. The best thing on my X5 is the panoramic sunroof. The bummer is that it makes too much noise at higher speeds while open. The wind deflector isnt that great, but with such a big opening i dont think any deflector would work.

Anyway, enough about the X5. This is the SL55 forum. Anyone want to buy mine for cheap. ;-)

AWSOME car man, I see no reason for you to get rid of it

j/k, but one suggestion, for ebay, if you want to really inmprove your chances of selling it, you should lower the starting price significantly (e.g $100, etc.) that way, you'll get people to bid on it and your auction will see a lot more action and stay at the top of the list when people do a search, etc... just a suggestion, it worked wonders for me when I was selling my wheels on ebay...

HTH, GL!!

My 19" double spoke 2 piece wheels say AMG on them and they are aluminum or some type of alloy. They look like the SL65 wheels on the mbusa website. The SL65 wheels on the MBUSA wesbite dont look charcoal color to me

Hey Todd, in what part of town were those pics taken? The area looks interesting to me but doesn't look the slightest bit familiar.

Dr Chill,
It is in Delray Beach where i live. I recently moved, although technically im still in West Palm Beach.....County. ;-)

Mr Xristo,
I think an approximately $125Kcar selling for $105K is about a 16% depreciation in 1 year. I dont know how that racks up with other car brands. Of course i wish we were in June 2003 and i was selling it for above MSRP due to the still high demand.
