Low Milage SL65AMG Values

This is my first post so I apologize in advance if I am breaking any forum rules. I have a 2006 SL65AMG that I purchased almost three years ago with around 23K miles.
Since then I have put less than 10K miles on the car and it actually still has the original tires. Several week ago I was at the Hospital waiting for my father to be discharged and he turned on the television and to my surprise there was a car very similar to mine being auctioned off by Mecum Auctions.
The car had an odometer discrepancy, but still ended up selling for 55K, which was a bit of a surprise for me? So it would appear that these cars are starting to appreciate in value? Or was there something special about that particular car that I am missing? I am considering putting my SL up for sale and
would like to get an idea of the value of the car? Here is the link to the car that sold on Mecum:
https://www.mecum.com/lots/PA0818-33...benz-sl65-amg/
Mine is very similar, but with a grey interior and lower milage.
Any opinions or responses are appreciated!

Personally, who ever paid that through Mecum got taking at 55K unless there is something we don't know about that car. With those miles that is high by a solid 20K.

Thanks for the reply Skylolow!
That seemed high to be, but I wanted to be sure?
So a low milage, mint condition, SL65 realistically should sell for between 35 and 40K?

Yes, if your looking at 2005 to 2008 models. With around 30K to 45K in miles in great condition they should be priced around 35K to 45K. Depending on year and miles. After negotiations I won't pay over 40K for one unless we are talking about something like a 2007 with 20K in miles in showroom condition. I think if you budget around 38K you'll be able to find very good examples of the SL65. I'd also try to work with a private seller over some used car lot in the country. Chances are quite high you'll be buying a much better car overall with service records. Last thing you want is some SL that has been bumped around to various used car lots over its life.

Just noticed, if you look at the picture of the back of the car and increase the picture size, you'll see it says Renntech on the back of the car. My assumption is that it sold for $55k because of the Renntech mods. However, what renntech mods were done, is not listed.

I was at the Mecum Auction on Thursday and I personal took video of this car. It wasn’t in the best of shape for the price it went for. Emblems were all over the tail lights and it was overdone.

They were bidding on SL55’s that were in need of a lot of repairs.

‘’People were bidding high on a lot of cars and after I spoke with a few of them, I realized they had no clue what they were looking at as far as what common issues to check.

If you look closely along the sides he had emblems in the rear corner and under the side vents.
This car had a cracked nose that was repaired and some body damage that was repaired but it was obvious, the body shop messed it up and had overspray all over the headlight.

The SL65 in this picture was in MINT CONDITION! Super nice car and everything looked perfect!!

This was by far the nicest

Those were my exact words when I saw it. The badges along the side of the car were even more out of place...
