Hello, I'm currently shopping an 09 IWC in NC but I cannot get confirmation about some specific equipment that some written articles say come on this model. I ran the VIN and did not find codes 251, 471, 486 & P30 (all of which I gather are part of the Performance Package). But, it does have the Sport Steering Wheel & 19" wheels which I did not think you could get separately. I think the answer is if it's not in the VIN breakdown it's not on the car....am I correct or are there some options that are just a given on the IWC?
Hi okbarnett, that's actually one of the articles I've seen that states the Performance package is "optional". The car I'm looking at for sure has the 19" AMG twin spoke wheels and the AMG sport steering wheel with the aluminum center spoke. I looked at another SL65 AMG in MA that did have the PP option and it listed each of the items in the VIN code breakdown, but this IWC doesn't show those although the Perf Package as I understand it is inclusive of 7 specific items of which this car is only showing 2 of. I'm trying to negotiate pricing and there is a pretty hefty difference between a car with the Perf Package and one without. The dealer cannot confirm (as they are using the VIN breakdown just like I am). The 1 item I'd really like to know for sure is if it has the limited-slip rear diff.
these special edition cars get alot of items that appear to be more than it is. The car doesnt have the pp just a couple of items from it. The big thing would be the LSD If you like white cars the iwc would be the one to get, but look at its sticker and understand most never had any options
as far as values goes, the special edition cars arent worth any more than a regular car, just check nada values
that’s absolutely not correct. It’s the added options that can’t be valued because of the limited production that make them valuable. Though buyers use that bull**** all the time.
Been looking for SL63 with PP + distronic for weeks and saw a couple IWC editions.I’ve checked 3 IWC’s vins. One in US (currently still being listed in cars.com), one from Europe and one here in Taiwan. ALL OF THEM don’t have code p30, nor do they have options for locked differential & speed limit increase.
Nevertheless, I found this 10 yr old C&D article saying that “The top speed is governed at 186 mph, as the performance package comes standard”, implying that all IWCs have p30 as built in. I am confused now.
