Full throttle - smell
Does anyone sometimes get a slight burning smell after a burst of full throttle in their SL55? I have noticed this and am curious if others have too or if it is a problem. Thanks.

I know that your car is pretty new...so it might just be some of the new paints and chemicals reacting to the heat.....or maybe you are just roasting those tires!!![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)

SL55 AMG
I know this thread is old but I just hit the kick down on the highway to show a friend what the car would do. Its hard to know what the SL 55 AMG is going to do sometimes. It may shift up too quickly. I told my self I would never put it to the floor, but I came off the ramp it was already in too high of a gear. I pushed the pedal down and waited.. no shifting just power. Then I hit the kick down and before I knew it, it was 80 mph and it started a burning smell that got in the cabin and lasted for a few miles. Scared the crap out of me! Everything seems okay. I hope I didn't damage anything. Maybe the supercharger belt got toasted.

I have that same sulfur smell when i get on my sl55. From what i have read it is normal and it indicates the cats are doing their job although some say its a indication that the cats are going bad. As suggested I just switched gas stations and I am also running Seafoam thru the system. I would suggest you do the same....
If anyone else has any info pls let us know!!!!
