Faster Shifting Advice Please?

Hello all,

I am looking for a way to make my 06 SL55 shift faster and more firm. I do not have a tranny tune yet and I assume that would make some difference.
Just wondering if there is any info already out there. I have seen the VRP shift Kit and solenoids that they offer but not really too much info about how they help.

Would love to make this beast a little more snappy.

I look forward to the help if you can!!

About all you can do and it is noticeable is the tranny tune. DTK is popular, cheap, and great reviews.

I just got a Eurocharged TCU tune on my 2003 E500 with 5 speed 722.6 automatic transmission and it made a world of difference. Shifts are much quicker and smoother with the driveability greatly enhanced. This is how my car should have been set up from the factory.

Any downsides to doing a TCU tune..?

Harshness, abruptness with sport / D (non-manual) modes...?

No downside from my experience. You can also tune the torque limits out too. The 5 speed is limited and is really slow compared to the newer trannys.

Unless you have a P030 there is no sport mode for the transmission. It is either (S)tandard, (W)et, or (M)anual.

I actually do have P030 I have S, C, M options.

S downshifts itself and holds gears longer to get to higher RPMs.

those shift options don’t denote the 030 package. We all have it
