SL55 Supercharger

Anyone got experience changing the supercharger oil? If so, do you recall how much was charged or the labor time?. My local shop has no idea what to quote me as they can find no "standard" labor time.

One hour max unless you drop and lose the fill plug; in that case add a couple of days to the effort. Before changing the oil order a spare plug or two.

Thread on this in the W211 AMG sub-forum that will take you to more info.

You literally remove the plug, use a syringe with flexible line to suck out the old oil, then add oil.

do you see value in changing the SC oil on an 11 year ol sl55 that has 27000 miles on the odometer? Someone told me the correct frequency is every 50000 miles.

I'd always err on the side of caution. I just bought a 2003 SL55 w/ 20K on the clock, and I'm changing the SC oil for sure.

Not only mileage, but time is a factor with most fluids. Here's a good quick article on the subject. Easier to link than plagiarize LOL:

I changed mine at ~45K miles and 12 years. As I recall, it took about a half quart (or liter). No locals had the Mobil Jet oil, so bought it via an internet source.

Just go to MB dealer and buy it, it's the right amount. By turning and moving the tube you'll get all the oil out.

Mine took all but 1 oz of the MB bottle.

FWIW - I would say yes as it isn’t difficult or expensive if you do it yourself. Even on oils if cars aren’t driven they recommend changing yearly. Just my .02. I did mine last year and plan to do again this year. Doesn’t take much quality to replace.

Warning it it will smell badly when removing old oil. Good luck
