SL55 New Head Unit and Backup Camera Cost
Got a quote to add a Pioneer Head Unit and JL Audio 5 Channel Amp to my 08 SL55 AMG. $2000 including labor was quote, add $300 for back up camera. Sound about right?
The main component elements are Pioneer AVH-2440 NEX DVD Receiver and JL Audio XD700/ 5 Channel Amp (4X100W and 1X300W)
Installer stated they've never needed to replace speakers once done on our cars as the MOST fiber optic cabling totally destroys what would otherwise be superior sound. Even said he thought he could keep functionality of phone buttons on steering wheel.

Having CarPlay is definitely a plus. As long as all the stock functions work - sounds like a great deal. While the stock sound is great, I sometimes would like a little more...

That sounds about right. When I put in my Kenwood HU and 5-channel amp it cost about the same. Surprised your backup camera costs so much. My shop charged me $100. I'm sure it was just a generic model.

If I understand it correctly you may loose door tweeters. There are no cross-over circuits and instead the Bose amp does the crossover and sends separate signals to the mids and tweeters in the doors.

smithwn55 did you get this done? I'm now exploring going down the route you did. A few questions popped up that I am trying to answer
1) What impedence are the Bose speakers? I've heard 3 or 3.5 ohm
2) How about for the Subwoofer? Again, for this I have heard 1.5 ohm
3) Can a single 5-channel amp work for all the speakers? The shop I spoke with talked about bridging two 4-channel amps together, one to drive the door spearkers and one to drive the front center speaker, sub, and rear filler speakers.
