R230 Trunk Won't Close & Can't open Convertible Top

I really need you support: I have a 2009 SL 63 AMG (R230) hardtop convertible and the the trunk won't close with the soft close mechanism. I cannot open the convertible top and the light indicator on the drivers side stays lit. Do I need to purchase a new trunk actuator? What is the part number for this item. I heard about removing the F71 fuse on the passenger side storage bin, and disconnect the NEG from the consumer battery in the trunk. I have not tried either method as of yet. The doors and trunk continues to lock and unlock as well as the windows up and down. There is no obstructions inside the trunk area.
Thank you for your support in this matter.

It sounds like the soft close mechanism is not working and probably has a leak. There are threads on how to repair. For the moment, try opening a window and closing the trunk so that there is no air pressure keeping the trunk from fully closing. Then try to open and close the convertible top. If that works, work on the repair of the soft close actuator.

'94 SL600,'05 SL600,'06 S65,'07 E63,'14 E63S,'09SL600 all sold, ‘15 S65,‘18 E63S,'17 SL65, '17S65Cab
I had this failure on my 2009 SL600 about 4 months ago. Since I do not have the time to work on these things I just drove it to the dealer to be fixed. For info it cost $1,100 to replace the latch assembly.

I'm here with my 2003 SL55 AMG, the latest edition to the fleet
I fixed mine for the cost of a tube of epoxy. Took about 30 minutes to take out the latch, 10 minutes to put back in. Here's the thread you need:

Ouch... that's twice as much than others have reported.

To All; thank you for your response.

Bldubblu: my trunk panel is different from the thread posted here. I have removed the five plastic pins but something else is hold the panel in place. If could only learn and see how to remove the panel where the two red (unlock/lock) buttons are (passenger side) I could remove the actuator and start the repairs. I just don't want to break off anything.

Thanks.
Juan

I have managed to remove the lock mechanism out of the car and see many cracks.

The white container looks empty. Do I need to put some type of fluid in there, if so, what kind of fluid and how to put the fluid in the white container? It looks like I need to remove the red hose connection, but not sure.

Also, once I put the proxy glue on the areas and re-install the lock mechanism, do close the trunk first, re open the trunk and then disconnect the NEG cable on the consumer battery in the (trunk) for 20 seconds, then reconnect NEG cable and press the red button on the trunk panel to close the trunk?
Please advise.
Thanks.
Juan

My trunk operates properly. No more dashboard "trunk opened" indicator and the light on the door panel if off.
Thank you to all and special thanks to the writer who wrote the instructions and special thanks to Rodney for walking me through the end to reset the trunk operations.

Juan
