2005 SL65 AMG
R230 AMG button to Paddle Shifter conversion - Install instructions.

Here is my video summary of converting my SL65 from button shifting to paddles. This works on a lot of different AMG cars. Beware, as you see in the video, I DID break my button holder, which they DO NOT sell anymore.

As an option for parts... used factory steering wheels are relatively inexpensive on eBay.

I had my steering wheel modified like the one in the above post and sent a $100 eBay-purchased core instead of my pristine original.

Just a thought...

The "button holder" has NEVER been available for sale. When it WAS available, it could only be purchased as part of a brand new steering wheel.

At this point, you may want to swap in the real AMG paddles. While, due to breakage during the dis-assembly process, your button holders can no-longer work with the original buttons (or the G-paddles) properly , THEY STILL are perfectly suitable to properly trim out the real paddles as AMG aluminum paddles are held in by a screw that passes through the steering wheel (and button holder) keeping it all securely in place.

Don't be hard on yourself about breaking the button holder (it happens to nearly everyone ... I have even seen it in G-paddle's own pictures and videos ... go figure).

send me an email ( Latemodel21@yahoo.com ) if you would like some info or instructions for converting your wheel to REAL amg paddles (and info about the "paddle converter module" that makes the AMG paddles plug and play in 2003-2006 SL55/65 and other AMGs) .

Cheers,
Chris

Button to Paddle Conversion

Where can I buy the conversion kit that allows me to install paddle shifters to my 2003 SL55 button system? Is there a US source?

Thanks

In the US, You can get it from DCT motorsports or VRP speed (Both forum sponsors) or (if you have any quesitons, etc) you can contract me directly at Latemodel21@yahool.com (I am the designer / manufacturer and I do all of the Mercedes and Porsche paddle shift conversions for DCT Motorsports and MA Carbon).

Cheers,
Chris
