05 Navi in 04 SL55?

I'm just curious if it is possible to replace the 04 CD-Navi with the 05 DVD-Navi on my SL. Is it possible to order these parts direct from the dealer?

Thanks,

I think it's possible. But it might not be cost-effective.

I'm intersted in something similar. I have a 03 SL55. I'd like the new gauges (speedo and tach) since the new ones don't wash out in daylight with the top down. 05 NAV would be ok as well.

When you consider tradein and tax costs evn something in the neighborhood of 8 - 10K would not be unreasonable.

I did not know that about the gauges. Do they look different?

In the 2005 SL brochure they appear to be the "bright ones" that are in the 2004 E class.

First thing I read that annoyed me when I purchased my new '04 less than 4 weeks ago was that the '05 had the DVD Navi in it. I too would like to do a swap out. However, I get the feeling like most benz parts it would be insanely expensive to do it...

I'm hearing it's around $2,300.00 plus labor. Insane Prices!

Hmmm, if that was directly convertible into an A$ cost (3,257.32), it would almost seem cheap by what I think they'd charge for it here. I'd be thinking more like double here, going on the other Benz parts prices I've seen. Don't get me started on what a set of 19" Style 4 wheels go for here for example ($US8-9k a set)! I'm buying the reps instead for $A1300 (cost).

I l looked into doing a similar thing on my 2002 BMW 525it (wagon). The total cost including labor was right about 2k. So 2300 seems like a "reasonable" number. I think if the money is not really an object and this is the kind of thing that will annoy you, its not a bad move at all. Otherwise, its probably not worth it. I left well enough alone in the wagon.

Best Regards,
Jerry

I'm not in any kind of rush; I'll shop around a bit and I'll let you guys know what I did.
