I came across a newer style of Chinese android head unit on aliexpress. The previous one was good fit the 03-04 model wood trims but this one seems to maximize the entire space occupied by the head unit for 05+ models. Has anybody tried the new style one? I've seen them for as low as around $200 and figured it might be worth a shot.

Just helped out a member with this late radio version replacement

here is what I found for those who have the late radio like below and want to replace it





so for premium sound amp Kardon or Bose
with these two buys you retain fiber and stock amp
no stupid long wire to the rear

That's excellent news. Essentially this would be near plug and play if I were to purchase these two items? Are there any bugs that haven't been worked out? People who have installed the previous units mentioned their steering wheel menu buttons were rendered useless because it changed the song instead of changing the cluster display. Curious if the factory sub and everything works as designed as well. Is sound quality decent? The factory sound system blows but the radio is especially bad.

no it would not work with a CD changer on any year, nor would it work on any 03/04 car. 03/04 cars use D2B fiber for communications. If you change the headunit on a 03/04 car you will also need to replace the amp. 05+ cars that have the MOST fiber system can use a simple converter box and still use the factory amp and be plug and play. There never has been nor likely ever will be a converter for 03/04 D2B cars.
