Side Marker Replacement

Does anyone have any tips on replacing the front passenger side marker light on a 2009 SL63?

Does the entire assembly come out, or just the amber part?

Thanks in advance!

get the new one and look at the tabs, and pry it out according to that. You have the cf part so it may be different, or glued, or hard to pry, who knows

Its hard to remember every car, But I think the surround and the marker were held in from the back by a bracket, or a nut. Maybe.
But you still may be able to pry the marker out.

Thank you for the additional information. I ordered the part and will check it all out once it arrives. Actually....I just bought the car too, and the car itself won't even be here until tomorrow! Thanks again!

Did you figure out how to do it?
I am planning to replace mine with a clear marker.

I tried to do it myself, but could not fit my arm behind the panel in front of the tire even after I removed the 3-4 clips holding it in.

So, when I brought my SL63 into the dealer for a thorough exam in May (just bought it earlier in January) and had bought the replacement....I just gave it to the tech and he replaced it in 10 minutes.

So there is something from inside holding it in place?
I replaced it on my 550 myself, but its a different design on the 63.

Yes, as I recall there is a clip on the inside of the marker and the wiring harness clips onto it to hold it in place as well. Like I said, the Tech did it and I wasn't watching at the time he did it.

The larger body colored (or CF in my picture above) piece it sits in does not come off, just the side marker itself. It's a pretty easy fix, just make sure you remove all 3-4 clips on the inner wheel well and turn the tire away from the side you are working on to give you additional clearance. The clips are removed by prying out the center pin and removing the trim ring.

Hope that helps!
