Check the pneumatic (air) pump that's located directly under the Convertible Top hydraulic pump in the left bottom trunk area. These are said to run when they fail or there is a leak in the system. The pump has to maintain pressure with ignition off so the door and trunk locks will operate. You can reach under the foam and touch this pump(box) as a crude check, or find the relay/fuse. If the looks are terribly sluggish that would be a clue also.

Let us know what you find please.

My battery drain was from the factory alarm system. There is a separate battery supply box for the factory system and those batteries get old and known to short causing a drain. Not saying its your issue, but another place to check... Not sure about the SL, but on my RHD CLS55 the battery pack for the alarm was in the right hand wheel well..

If it's not an electrical load down steam (down circuit) from any fuse or relay, then it would seem to be a short (partial short) somewhere between the battery and the fuse/relay boxes. Have you also checked the main fuses just forward of the rear battery? The other idea that comes to me is to access the BCM (or Power Control Module) on the inside rear of the RR wheel well, and progressively pulling each of the main power out lines, and then each of the control connectors while monitoring the current drain. Maybe that will lead you somewhere.

Probably wise to spend some time studying the electrical schematics.

Let us know when you solve the mystery please.
