Lowering IAT's

Just a quick question to anyone who installed an aftermarket Heat Exchanger and/or split the cooling lines.
I purchased a new Weistec HE to help with heat soak and want to know if I need to split the system or can I get away with just adding the secondary exchanger to help with heat soak? Any info is appreciated.

My shop installed the Weistec dual pass HE, and at Weistec's suggestion, the Johnsone pump. Total BS, got no additional benefits to IAT's (probably got worse) due to the inferior flow characteristis of the Johnson pump vs the Bosch 010 pump that was replaced.

Will have Killer Chiller system installed first week of September. Will also split the cooling system, install a replacement high flow pump from VRP, pipe the factory HE in series to the Weistec and add a 3.75 gal fluid tank to the trunk. Expect to run near 32 degrees F when not under hard throttle and recovery times should be fantastic.

ather expensive mods but needed due to the poor intercooler design by MB for the M113k engine.

Stock HE can handle up to 77MM pulley.

Get the 80 and call it a day.

I'm running 83

Stock HE does nothing to help lower IAT's. Only impact is to heat soak recovery.

Problem is once that happens you've already lost performance due to MB programming to retard timing(begins at 120 degrees IAT and gets progressively worse with temps).

I have had a Killer Chiller now for 3+ years. I have a tank where the aux battery was. I have a temp read out of the water in the tank at all times. I went to the track once and the temp increased 14 deg C after a run but was still under ambient. I drive around watching that temp always under ambient and amazed that anyone would just use air to water heat exchanger(s) which would never get the temp under ambient. I needed anti freeze when I had a clutched pulley as the water would get below freezing. After I fixed the 74mm pulley the temps don't get as low (2 deg C) as the super charger is turning always and keeping some heat in the water. To me now a much better drive as there is much better throttle response. I have a Race IQ tune.

Agree,

It's even worse than you think

The first stage is at 95 degrees, 113 degrees and 149 respectively

I love driving it late November right before it goes away for storage

Wow, that's terrible. All the more reason to "keep that cold air coming"!

I hope to have a similar set of results once installed next week, running 76mm pulley so not quite as much heat as your setup.
