Help, Electronics going Haywire

Hello everyone,

I am new to the forum. I am need of some help. I own a 04 SL55, after the car sat outside through rain for a week, I went to start the car and it started fine. I did however discover that my gauges were not working, my car was cycling through its ride heights on its own, and the car will not shift out of park. As the car runs it cycles through different warning lights on my dashboard, car keeps going up and down. I thought maybe it was a bad rear battery, I went ahead for good measures put a new one in but no change. I also let the car run, went to the rear and disconnected the rear battery but no change at all in the electronics. Its like the car is not acknowledging the rear battery power. Has anyone experienced this before. I don't even know how I would get it onto a flat bed to get it to a shop.

Thanks
Mario Garcia

Something is leaking into either front fuse boxes (Sam)) or into the rear fuse box. Not good. The first place to check is the drivers side SAM cover, it may not be on there correctly. Regardless yuu need to find it.

I agree it is my one of my SAM modules. The front two under the engine hood (Driver side and Passenger side) are bone dry but I am being made aware that there may be one behind the passenger seat in the under the storage cargo and in the trunk. Does anyone know there the one in the trunk it?

Thanks,
Mario

There isn’t one in the trunk. You are going to have to start pulling up carpet to see where it’s wet, and get the car into a dry place. These electronics and wet is very costly and time consuming.

I am sure its the one behind the passenger seat. My rear battery had a lot of condensation on it. Does anyone if these are plug and play?

If you get the right one from the correct year with your options. The shifter and Electric ignition are coded. Used SAM s cans be coded , but shifters and ignition is more difficult.

Using a code reader that can read mercedes specific codes ... read the codes. You are going to have to sooner or later (to clear them if nothing else). Might as well do it sooner and save some time.

The BCM is located near the trunk battery and susceptible to leakage from the adjacent rear-of-top drain-tube (look for kinked/blocked/disconnected tube in the right-forward trunk area).

Where is the car wet? I had some leakage a few months back when we got hit with the hurricanes. I had water pool under the passenger seat and my central gateway got some corrosion, I had the shop replace and clean everything. Works perfectly now.
