SL55 Alloys - swap 18" for 19" possible?

I currently have a set of 18" AMG V 22-Spoke wheels on my 2005 SL55 but am looking to replace them with 19" Mercedes 5 Twin Spoke Wheels (links below)

Now Mercedes didn't release these 19" Alloys for the SL55 but a very helpful chap at alloywheelsdirect replied with the below after I gave him the VIN number for my car:

"The wheels will fit for sure if you put 5mm spacers in the front and 10mm spacers in the rear. They might even fit without the spacers, but it’s not guaranteed. So try them on carefully without the spacers, and if they clear the brakes and the suspension you are good to go. Otherwise you will need to install the spacers"

Now I have no reason to doubt him, but before I drop a few quid sourcing these alloys, does anyone reading this know for any reasons why i couldn't fit these 19" alloys to my car?

Does anyone know where I can get them? Only place I can find any is on ebay and front ones only currenlty.

Lastly - shot in the dark...... anyone got these on their SL350 or SL500 and looking to swap?!

Thanks in advance.

Years ago I got 19 from tire rack double spoke wheels. I think they were 31or32 offset. No spacers needed. Do not use spacers.

Thanks for your reply... these 19" bad boys are 35 and 40 offset, so they might need spacers. Hopefully once i source them, the 'expert' fitter will know.

It’s the brake clearance on the front that is usually the issue. 5 mm isn’t much, but there isn’t much hub center on the front hub to make the wheels hubcentric, and that is very important.

Above the spacers, which I don’t recommend eBay ones the fronts don’t work, and most are just bad. You are also going to need 20 different bolts as these replica wheels are probably not ball seat, but conical seat. Even if they are , the stock bolts are unlikely to be the correct length, as the hub mounting surface to bolt seat is usually different and the spacers will throw the whole thing off.

So there goes your cheap wheels,I have done it many times and it’s never a bolt on, especially with Amg big brakes.

I'm not looking for replica / cheap wheels - not sure from my post why you think this.

I just really like the 19" alloys from the link in my original post and would only buy genuine/original Mercedes wheels to replace the current 18" wheels on my SL55 (2005)

So assuming i can find these genuine Mercedes wheels (albeit second hand most likely), I'm just asking if anyone in the forum knows if for any reason why these 19" wouldn't fit my car.

The reason for my caution is that when you could still buy these 19" wheels new - it specifically stated "Not for SL55 or SL65 AMG"

Now is that because they simply just won't fit or because these wheels were never released as an option for the SL55 and SL65.

I've been told they will fit by an online wheel retailer (they don't have the wheels in stock so no reason to lie to me), I'm just looking for a second opinion on here etc

Sorry for that I didn’t realize that they were Amg wheels, I did notice the note on the bottom clearly stating that they weren’t for sl55 or sl65 Mercedes though.

Curious, do you know what those multi-spoke wheels weigh?

Less rotating mass from lighter wheels improves performance.

I have factory 19" wheels on my SL63 and they weigh ~30 lbs apiece. Strong, but heavy.

Would consider the 18" SL55 wheels if they are notably lighter but I haven't found any info on that yet.
