2004 SL55

Yup, I'm crazy and bought a SL55 with pano roof. I have a SL500 that lays around my winter place and even that was not enough to instill common sense. I have the complete records and the previous owner was keeping everything up to date out of pocket at Mercedes, yikes. One strut replaced so far, but again all overpriced service (plugs, brake flush, batteries) has been done. Zero error messages but it's only been a day ha. Even the seat pulse works.
Couple questions please. The car has keyless go but no response from the shifter button. Is this the year that required the smart card or ? Also I don't see supercharger oil change in the records should I get after that ? Thanks and it's too late to talk me out of this.

Congrats, Fantastic car. Pictures!!! For spark plugs, I was a little bit surprised when I got new spark plugs for my 03 SL55, engine has 16 of them, and was advised on here to get new wires at the same time, so I did. Bought the parts online, cost about $400, installed myself, then I called 2 MBZ dealers asking their charge for this service, parts and labor. First one quoted $3,950.00 and second one was a few hundred dollars less. This goes to show you cannot be using a dealership to service these cars. Just about the last thing that has not yet been serviced on mine, is the supercharger oil, if you don't know that it's been renewed, do it. There are videos on Youtube showing how to change that oil, and you can buy the syringe to use, on amazon. You must use Mobil Jet 2 oil, it's a jet engine oil!

Thank you ! Fortunately they did the plugs along with about 8k worth of other services, all things I would have done. The big ticket item was the strut. Yeah I just watched some videos and looks pretty straight forward. However guess what on day 2 of ownership I can see the famous shifter problem is about to happen. I can barely get it out of park. The dealer has a 5 day money back warranty and they can either fix it (I found the rebuild place) or take the car back. Looks like less than $500 for the rebuild.

Update, the dealer fixed the shifter with my $29.00 aluminum part and she's back home. The trip back from the dealer convinced me yes I am crazy but in the way SL55 owners understand lol.
Now on to supercharger oil change, lowering links, updated grill, tint and dang where can I find some new floor mats.

Congrats!! Good job on the shifter! I bought that aluminum piece for the day mine needs it, it's in my garage somewhere, now if I were to need to have it done I bet it would take me a month to find it. If you want genuine original floor mats a Benz dealer may be able to order them for you but they would not be cheap, IF they are available. Searching Fleabay might be the thing to do. Every time I drive my SL55 I'm impressed at how perfect the car is, they really got these ones right. The drive is just sublime. Well, no wonder, they cost $130,000 new. LoL

Looks great. I always have a fairly dark tint on the windows as well.
