First month(es) with the SL65
Hello @ all ...
After the first "few kilometers" with this DC/MB product - I can report some experiences....
1) On straight lines (highway) the car is indeed very fast ....
2) Comfort is still ok - listening to Mozart even on race tracks ... :p .. overtaking the Porsches crowd on the straight (but they killed me in the turns
)
3) less failures than, happened with the model before... :p
4) consumtion average 15.2 liters / 100 km (highest consumption at SPA/F1 track ~ 61 liters/100 km)
5) breaks/discs are not the best - got already new discs and pads on warranty. (first production series had some material troubles)
6) it is defenetely NOT a track day car .... (because of weight)
7) it is VERY difficult to find a dealer who is able to service the car !!
even here in France ...
kind regards from the centre of France
Walter

Walter, I'm getting impatient waiting for those videos
Glad you're enjoying the car, you probably have the highest mileage SL65 in the world!

I have almost 2000 miles on mine (1st month) with no problems thus far. Hope it stays as tight as it is now, for many more miles, as I hate rattles etc. Only slight problem is ticket anxiety because the car reaches "in jail" speeds so rapidly. I have a smile on my face every time I start the beast.

On 6th Dec. the French goverment announced a new law for speeding ! If you are 50km/h over the limit of 130 km/h THEY have the right to confiscate your car, and SELL it in an auction in favour of the state

Hello Doc ...
Sorry, you're almost right ! area of Vichy ....
Hello Clyde
The problem is the "heavy" weight of the SL in general. There is no problem to "beat" any other car on the straight line - or out of turns, no question - but if you have to break from "higher" speeds than others, cause you are faster on the straight line with the SL65, and you have more weight - then you have to set your braking point even earlier than, a P996 GT3 - do you agree ?
Anyway all these trackdays, is just fun for me - I do not take it soo serious - and honestly I do not care less if a Porsch, Lotus or BMW is taken me, or a CLK55 is getting better times than me.
The capazity of the tank is 90 liters .... as I can remember ... sorry only ask to fill the tank, and sign the CC slip.
kind regards from freezing France..
