LOL..guys i know it sounds fake and all and yes to the guy about me counting money before it comes, but when you hear of it..you get excited..hell its $300 mill.and NO its not from some lotto ticket..its NOT from a law suit, there is some things going on between some people around this deal total deal will be in the billions,my familys part will be roughly $300million and im wanting a new car..lol..It would be nice if it goes thru.only time will see, what were hearing it sounds like early 05 to mid 05 before it happens,i will let you all know..and I allready live in a upscale area so a Lambo would fit in where we live, our home is worth $650k so the people around me are pretty well off anyhow.Again this is all new to me and getting excited about $300 mill is kinda hard to keep calm.

Location is everything when it comes to real estate. Houses are substantially cheaper in this part of the country. You can get a lot more house for alot less dollar. The downfall of course is that salaries in this area are also a great deal smaller. You should see the market in Oklahoma. Here you can get one of those NYC $650,000 homes for less thas $300G's.

true, true. just to give you an idea, ive been looking at 2 family homes in my area in semi decent neighborhoods as investments to rent and everything is from $400,000 to $500,000 + money for improvements. but you are right its all about location. i wouldnt want to live anywhere else

I wonder why these idiotic posts can't simply be moved to the off-topic section. This is really getting bothersome

no matter what you buy, be sure to do a few driving schools.

my thoughts if I were in your spot:

1. SL55 as a fun daily driver (easy to drive and live with)
2. Ferrari F430 stick shift- fun weekend toy
3. some kind of safer-SUV, X5 or Cayenne; or large sedan like an A8, 7er or S class- this would be for when you have friends or know you have to valet park, or the weather is bad.

if you're going to have cars like these, the most important thing is to know how to handle them and driving school is a must. Then take most of that new found wealth and put it in safe, conservative investments.

Best regards,
Jerry

6300SQft for $650k Sign me up...

WOW - 6300Sq ft for $650k? Sign me up, I'll take two!!

I wish you all the best with your $300million windfall. However it seems that if you are really going to be in the league of $300 million; you would not be submitting a post to a message forum asking for help about which cars you should buy. As one poster said - buy them ALL!

With this amount of money available to your family you can afford to buy all the cars you can think of and much more. Based on all the cars you seem to be interested in; they can all be had for under <25mil. You can also get one private jet (<40mil), a nice yacht that you'd keep in the Bahamas or Mediterranean (<20mil), and finally, you can have several homes around the world. For example: 1 Luxury Apartment in NYC (<5mil), 20,000 SQ ft texas mansion (<5mil), California beach house (<5mil), European Apt (<2mil), Ski House in Colorado or Utah (<2mil)....

What am i missing?

Cars+JET+Yacht+Homes=

25+40+20+5+5+5+2+2=$104million

And with the extra ~$200 million available to your family, you guys can basically live off the interest of some very basic and low risk investments (conservatively $10million/year just on basic interest).

In this town people are struggling to afford $650k fixer-uppers that are basically 2 bedroom condos in old Victorian buildings.

Yes, that's right - in San Francsisco the average price for a home is $650k and that is the average, not the norm. Most stand-alone homes go for over $1million and they are 2 and 3 bedroom "bungalows".

Consider that rent for 1 bedroom apartments usually average $1500-$2000. If you want to buy a place, you can't even touch a one bedroom crap-hole for under $500K in the city. Having $1million in this town just get's you a down-payment!

I guess it's the ocean, the mountains, wine country, Lake Tahoe, Yosemite, Monterey (Pebble Beach), international culture, great food, mild weather and cool laid back attitudes that drive these prices through the roof.

I wish everyone out there all the best in achieving your dreams.

How about you invest most of it and donate the rest to charity? That's always a good cause, and probably better then wasting it on homes and cars you'd never drive or never live in.
