Would you post the invitation just to see it?

The AMG Challenge is held at different tracks all over the country. I did an advanced one in Vegas last year and it was good fun.
The one that I would really like to do id the "Ultimate AMG Challenge", where you drive DTM cars in Germany....that sounds like some serious fun. The stuff in the US is really pretty good though...the instructors are very good. Our guest pro intructor was Tommy Kendall...who did a great job.
If you can do one of these I think that you will enjoy it and really start to enjoy the potential of your AMG car...

I did it last year and it was a blast going 150 around a track and using OPT...other people's tires. Do a search on these forums and you will find info about it. I wrote up a quick thingie about the experience last June. I plan on going to a couple this year if i can and recommend it to everyone....you will probably become a better and safer driver.

I am going to do my first event at Homestead. Are there any perks to the participants that bring their vehicles?

Hello, I'm new to the site but I've enjoyed driving my sl55 ever since I got it last year. Anyone registering for the amg challenge in July 30?

1200 bucks is a little steep for a one-day session. The Hoosier BMW club is hosting a 2-day driving event in April at Putnam Park (central Indiana). See www.putnampark.com for track info; www.hoosierbmw.com for event details. It's around $350. They provide the instructors, you bring your own car (and tires). The only down side is that they don't allow convertibles (SL's) on the track. So the SL55 stays home and we'll take the wife's car.
The AMG Graduate class looks interesting.

Yes, $2400 for two people for a day is steep! What is included in that price aside from the cars, pro drivers, track and food? Do they give you anything significant to take home?
I got my invitation the other day but I'm sitting on it. I'll decide when I get back from my trip this long weekend.

You do get some stuff if you come in the top 3 in the short course. Nothing glamorous...i won a remote control SL with retractable roof. 2nd place won a black AMG jacket. I dont remember what 3rd place won. Everyone received an AMG Challenge baseball cap and AMG Challenge polo shirt. Food and drink was included all day long. I dont think AMG makes any money on these things. The pro drivers and the tracks cost a pretty penny.

Got my invite earlier this week and bam, they are pretty much filled up.
So my question to all who have attended, I have been to the Derek Daly Academy at Las Vegas a few years ago for a three day school in a Formula 2000 race car. Since then I've had my Shelby on Laguna Seca and Thunderhill a couple of times. Is the basic, real basic and I should go for the advanced or start with the basic and then go back for the advanced?
There are still spots available in some of the advanced classes so I'm leaning that way.... thoughts?

If you have some track experience......do the advanced course....otherwise you will be bored.Originally Posted by VinceB

Went to the Graduate program yesterday in Las Vegas. What a hoot! Good comradery, great instruction and an absolute blast. I've been on the fence regarding an SL 500 vs. SL 55. Made the decision a little tougher. I fell in love with the SL 55. The CLS55, CLK55, C55, E55 and the SLK55 aren't bad either! One guy even brought his SLR and I saw a couple of Maybachs there as well. Playar's in Vegas!Originally Posted by Expat
I was looking at the MB site and saw details of the AMG track day, has anyone gone to one of these, $1200 seems pretty expensive to me, what did you think?
Got to speak with a Product Manager for AMG. While he obviously couldn't disclose all of the future, answered plenty of questions which will help in my decision process. Interesting stuff down the road...
One guy flew all the way from Vietnam, talk about a committment to fun. Several folks went to the intro course on Monday and then the Graduate program on Tuesday. Those I spoke with liked the Graduate program much better. More track time, etc...
If anyone gets the opportunity, I would highly recommend it. Remember...What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas
