questions about sl55

well, I just wanted to ask you a few questions on the sl55 amg

My Dad and I put ourselves on the list to get one of these amazing cars in teh fall .. I'm #42 on the list, so we'll prolly get it around the beginning of 2003.

We haven't put any of the options into the car yet, so thats whut I wanted to ask you about

if u can answer these quetsions..that would be great, thanks

1. what color do you think best fits the AMG?
2. would u get the AMG in stick/manual? (is this even possible)
3. The rims .. I really do not like the stock rims on the AMG

any other options u think are worth gettin? please tell!! thanks man

No doubt!! Your dealer may receive 4 per year, IF he is lucky.. The largest dealer in the US is receiving 5 this year.

When asked about dealer allocations for the SL55:

"The biggest dealer in the US (Fletcher Jones, Newport beach) will get 5 per model year..."

Other Dealers:

"Our guess is one per dealer"

Speculated premium for SL55 OVER MSRP, for those who wish to sell their SL after taking delivery:

"20K-50K is probably close..."

so are u saying if i am number 42 on the list (... it will take more that 8 years for the car to come??)

that doens't sound right...

plus i am sure more than 50% of those people on nthe list will cancel their orders...they just got their name on the list for potential sake

and the 5 model per year is the old calculation..when mercedes thought that they will only sell a few sl's
their expectations were WAY underrated, and i am pretty sure they are increasing the number.... but hey i could be wrong...but 8 years is definitely stupid..i'll just go get an m6 then

You may want to ask your dealer about their alocation of the SL55 units. At #42, even if half the people drop off the list and you move to #21, you may never see a unit alocated to you.

This is how rare the SL55 will be. Much like the CL55, etc.

I tend to agree with Awiner, in the regards to how rare this car will be, like the CL55. I work at the 2nd largest (use to be 1st) MB dealer in the US and we are only looking to get maybe a handful of these cars a year. To put this into prospective, we have only gotten 3 CL55's this year and it is now June. Last year we only received 8 of these cars and I have to say the the SL55 will likely be in the same category as the CL. I hate to be the barer of bad news, but I would not hold my breathe to get a car if I were #42 on the list!!!

as some of you know i work for a middle-big since august last year. we don´t sell much AMG-cars but sold four SL55 AMG this year (2x silber, 1x blue-silver and a black one) and about 10-15 SL500.

there was never a AMG sold so good at our dealership, is so fast, and so expansive and so worth.
people are changeing form porsche and jaguar to get the SL, amazing.
