I believe I'd found the first SL65 Black in the US, which is currently listed for sale @ Laguna Niguel Mercedes on Autotrader. It's listed for 304K, wish they had uploaded some pictures of the car on Autotrader.

Who knows what that listing means. Their website list an SL65 AMG with a removable top for $304350. Spoke with salesman who confirmed that this car is at VPC like everyone elses and he also stated that the actual price woud be established when they had the car and could see what the market was doing.

...you guys crack me up, nothing like a bunch of dealers yapping about things they really don't have a friggin clue about. How many friggin dealers are on this thread putting out mis-information? Typical, do you know how many times i have walked into various dealerships and knew more than the salesmen? Here's a news flash for some of you so called "experts"...official launch date means squat, I recieved my CLK Black Series the first week of September 2007 which was several days before the "official launch date" set by MB North America. I even heard of two being delivered as early as August 26th. I have an SL BS on order and to the best of my knowledge things are on schedule. I know for a fact that there have already been SL BS's delivered to customers in North America over the past week, I know one of the people that bought one and it is sitting in his garage as we speak.

That is false....new launch date is now 2/16. There are 43 BS sitting at the VPC and will have modifications done on Superbowl Sunday. I spoke to the AMG product manager yesterday. And...I don't think I know everything, but I state fact, not fiction Nobody has a SL65BS sitting in their garage, unless it was a gift from Laguna Seca

Ok, well I am glad that you all feel this way, but the info I provided is from the AMG Project Manager. Is it possible that the vehicle will be here before the 16th, yes. I know for sure, that I have the most up to date info and then some...TRUST ME.. Production SL65 BLK's are NOT on the street...lmao...nor are they in a garage. Come on people.

Jim are you sure on this one? I have similar information that says that no SL Blacks have been delivered as of today.

a 2 car funeral procession...
Cars were built almost six months ago and they still can't get them delivered to customers? Gotta love that 48 foot turning circle. Commander Bidnuts will feel right at home.

Prices will tank give it a few months people are not going to buy it at this economy and at the fact that it is an SL!!!!
But well if you got tons of cash doing nothing and wanna blow it then get it.

NO, he really doesn't, unless it's a tester car from Laguna Seca. That is not the case either because they do not sell those cars, they scrap them. There is NO SL65 BLK on the ground as we speak. If you are so sure, pm me the last 8 of the VIN# so I can look it up in netstar.

I agree with NY_SG, even though I found one listed on autotrader last week, and I think it's a cancelled order, so the prices will come down for sure or MB has to keep pushing launch date back to the point when they feel it's the right time to release the car. Just something I'd also found, a local MB dealer, 10 miles away from me, has 2 2008 S63 AMGs for sale, and they are not expensive, but they'd been sitting on the lot for a long time. If the price of the car comes down, then it's worth considering again. Right now, I'm thinking about getting a baby Lambo LP560-4 instead of the SL Black.

Yep it will tank just like any other SL65s and CLK63s and S65s even S600s.
V12s just dont hold value. Any car don't hold value it's sad. It depreciates unless 1 it's a classic or super limited production and super exclusive.
My friend had a sl65 2006 it tanked right around 100k in 2 years with only 5000miles on it. He did bunch of wheel upgrades engine body everything he probably lost it all he got 85k for it. He paid 182ish I believe.
After that he never touched the 65s anymore. He has sl65 BS on order dealer said msrp but he is canceling it due to the MSRP he said he rather go for something else for that price.
It's lame really how they priced it. If it is around 230k and never released the regular Sl65 i think would be a better move. That way it be Sl550 for basic then SL600 for comfort and power, SL63 and fun and joy and then SL65 BS for the crazynessssss. I personally that would have been a better call.
