There are no details about that upgrade on MKB website.

They just say "upgraded turbos, cooling and ecu"

I hate it. I love to know exactly what is done to the car.

And seing The stock engine cover makes me think the intercoolers haven't been upgraded,in this case that project is a pure POS.

Maybe they managed to install bigger coolers under the stock CF engine cover. I hope it's the case.

IMO they develloped a pair of custom turbochargers a la Soulsearcher.

Three month for an Engine tuning ? Are you kidding me ? Once the R&D work is done, No kit on earth needs Three Month to be MOUNTED.Unless it is mounted by chimps with down syndrome.

150K and Three month .... BAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

Those Greek brothers (MKB is ruled by two german brothers of Greek origin) are definitly some great comedians.

I long to know what Marcin & Soul searcher think about that crap.

With 150K marcin can build you a 3000Hp AMG.

They list that 0-60 times have been improved by only 0.2 seconds (3.6 instead of 3.8 for stock) and that 1/4 mile time is 11.1 seconds. Wouldn't a 1000 hp car with that much torque at least be in the 10s ?

There are more details about the mods in the Edmunds article:

"The kit, known as "MKB P 1000," takes you from the SL65 Black's stock 661 horsepower and 738 pound-feet of torque to an even 1,000 hp (claimed, of course) and 959 lb-ft of torque. The extra everything in this SL65 comes courtesy of new air intakes, turbos, camshafts and cooling system and, of course, a recalibrated ECU.

MKB also tweaks the automatic transmission and wisely offers a few different rear axles (each with a limited-slip differential), depending on just how big a burnout you want.

Claimed acceleration figures stand at less than 3.6 seconds (down from the AMG division's claimed 3.8) for the 0-60-mph sprint and an 11.1-second quarter-mile. MKB estimates that one of its available final-drive ratios for the SL65 Black MKB P 1000 is capable of getting the car to a 230 mph, though the German tuner has not yet conducted a V-max run.

The conversion takes MKB three months to perform and will cost SL65 AMG Black Series owners the equivalent of $150,000, which includes 19 percent VAT.

MKB is not a tuner to laugh at, even though the price is way out of there....so would a person who could afford to own and mod one of these

Also it is not just about power, drive ability and reliability are major parts in the equation. Doesn't soul hardly ever drive his car and stated hic ups and so forth?

The exact tourque is 1452,8 Nm, the engine power ist 1012,3 PS and I think 880,3 PS at the rear wheels. I'm not sure because the quality of my video is to bad. It was measured at MKBs dynometer.
11,16 on the 1/4-mile is really bad, but it was driven by a normal customer.

Look at the times from 100-200 km/hr and from 200-300 km/hr!! They're in 5 and 11 seconds respectively!!
I think that is relatively quick, no??
