Is $43900 reasonable for a used '02 SLK320

My friend in Northern CA found a used SLK320 w/ K4 and Auto at a dealership. It has 3500 miles and originally stickered for $48,900. Is $5K off sticker a good price for a used one, and what do you think he should offer for it???

I'm not sure how good of a deal it is in comparison to what others are going for, but this info might help.

First of all, I assume the car has metallic paint and the sticker price was originally $48,965. Out of that, there is $645 destination, 7% markup, and 3% holdback. Which means the
when the car was new, the dealer paid about $43,500 for it.

You can only guess what the dealer paid when they bought it back from the customer as a used car, but you can bet it was less than $43,500. My bet is that they paid less than $42K.

If you're negotiating and they really won't budge on price, see about a free CD changer. They're expensive options (at least $800) and if you have CDs, you'll definitely want one.

Here's what I told him to do

I told him the dealer probably gave about $40K in trade for this car and he should offer 41-42K (out the door price of $45K with TTL). I don't know if the car has a CD-changer. I told him the dealer would charge about $800 if it didn't. I have noticed that some dealers pull them out of used cars, so they can sell you a new one at $800+.

This is just me, but if it's only $5k difference, I'd rather just dig that up and buy a new car.

Thumbs down Don't get it.

Does it come with a blow job? They are trying to **** you in the ***. Unless you have money to burn, who gives a **** how much it costs. But for that price you can get a brand new one stock, but if you negotiate well like some people I know, you can get a sport package for another 2K. No matter what the dealer tells you, or if it is starmaked and certified, you really don't know what the original owner did to the car. It's not worth it in the long run when you find out that something is seriously ****ed up about the car when your warranty goes out... or you may realize it when you've taken the car back to the shop more than 5 times in 4 months for some stupid warranty repair. Dealer is there for to make money and they will tell you whatever you want to hear or feed you bull**** as long as they sell the car. Unless you personally know and trust the last owner of the car. Don't bother with it.

If your going to spend that much you might as well get the slk 350. Or try to find a used slk 32 for that price.

Hi,i don't know about the prices in usa but in europe you wouldn't even think about it.
You want to buy an old model that in one or two years it will be totally dead.
In your position i would put something plus for the new 350.No comparison! Faster than the new boxster s and new gearboxes both manual and automatic.
Don't dare to throw such a lot of money for 320!

A lot of noobs have been doing that lately, I think they are posting to old threads to up their post count. I mean, you have to through a LOT of pages back on a forum to find 3 year old threads!!
