SLK/R170 2002 interior roof diff color?

2002 interior roof diff color?

I test-drove a 2002 SLK 230 today (been drooling over the SLK's for a couple years - about to make a dream into a reality!). It was black w/black interior. The dash, seats, console - all were black. But the interior of the roof was tan.

Does this indicate a replacement part? I can't imagine it was manufactured that way.

And if it was replaced, how do they expect to get away with that? The Carfax report shows no damage, but I suspect there's something going on.

Should this be a red flag?

There is a black and tan interior colour. At least I saw one posted in the gallery on Benzworld from memory.

2002 SLK 32

The interior roof is typically a light color, generally considered to be a light gray, but may be taken as a light tan.

I drove a 1998 SLK 230 today. Black on black. Same thing: all black interior, but tan interior roof. I take it this means it was in fact manufactured that way. Good news, because I loved that 2002 yesterday!

Got my SLK!

Well, I got my SLK 230 today! I am a very happy and proud owner!

2000 SLK 230 with under 35k miles. Black exterior and black/tan two-tone interior. I can't stop looking at it.

I have a few questions about some things, but I will read the owners manual and other posts here before posting my queries.
