Factory Specification - CO2 (gram / Kilometer) - US Version SLK 230
Hello Ken,
thanks for the fast reply. I was expecting to see a number in the range somewhere between 200 - 300 grams / kilometer.
I am looking for the factory specification, as this is to be used for calculating the taxes when importing the car to Europe.
I also believe the the US version SLK might have different numbers than the European SLK, because a US SLK are reated with lower Horsepower because of emmission regulations.
Hope someone has knowledge about this...
Thanks.
Roger

I'm a smog tech here in California. Normally it doesn't matter if its a 4 cylinder or a V-8, they all put out about the same CO2 emissions. If the converter is working right. Im not sure how to convert that to grams.

Hello Kevin,
thank you for your reply. The problem is that I need the exact offiicial figure (from the manufacturer) for the average CO2 emission for "mixed driving".
The factory need to state this for surburban, city and mixed driving.
Norway implements a new import tax system from 1st January 2007, where the CO2 emission of a vehicle will strongly influence on the car duty that we need to pay upon registration of the vehice (in addition to a 25% value added tax calculated from the purchase price).
If the SLK has a CO2 emission of 180 Grams/Kilometer, the import taxes would be USD 25.000. If the average emssions should be 280 Grams / Kilometer, the import taxes alone rises to USD 47.195.
Regards, Roger
