There are also "bi-xenon" true HID kits that are supposed to have high and low beams. How these work is a mystery to me.
As I've said, I think the aftermarket halogen clear headlights cast a better beam pattern than the factory HID's. This praise does NOT come lightly...

Very easy and straight forward to fit.
Remove indicator, (press tag to the side at rear of ind and pull assy out (see handbook)
Undo screw next to grill.
Undo screw at top of light on inner guard lip.
Remove screw in void where ind assy was.
Replace last screw with ball screw provided.
Manouvre new light into aperture,
Clip onto ball socket. (grease it first may help to pop on)
Align top mount over guard lip and replace screw.
Replace side screw.
Plug original loom into light rectangular socket.
(if pre 2000 slk adaptor looms req to convert from early round plug to later rect plug)

Some markets (USA) have slightly diff side light config.
Also ensure you get left or right hand drive configuration for where you live.

Like bazzle said. The good thing is that you do not have to remove the front bumper.
