how is it different compare to the pre-face lifted ones (2000 slk and older)? I honestly can't tell...

The 2001 and up taillights are "Jewelled". It's hard to describe but they are not as dull and they look a lot better. I know a few members here have updated their taillights, maybe they can explain better.

The second pic is too dark. There is a difference, you need to see it in person (or a better picture).

As far as I know the plugs are the same but you might want to check with other SLK owners.

I parked next to a slk32 today and finally was able to tell the difference...it's very very minimal imo...i would probably buy a pair if i can get a set for a steal...
