SLK/R170: 1999 SLK Climate Control Bulb Replacement???
1999 SLK Climate Control Bulb Replacement???
I have a '99 SLK230. I know how to get the radio out and the dash apart, from some car audio work I have previously done. My problem is a burnt out climate control ring light. I removed the climate control assembly, noted the positions of the two turn knobs and the two nylon fingers that operate the blend doors. I was hoping for an easy bulb replacement but I have been foiled by the MB design engineers. It appears to be a snap together assembly not meant for servicing. I have gently released the fingers holding the two halves together and have all of thess points free but the two halves won't sperate. I am afraid of the "apply brute force and hope for the best" method. What retainer or fastener might I be missing? Any help, photos, instructions or diagrams would be greatly appreciated.
Oh, I did search "climate control" and some variations in the forum before posting but it didn't pull up anything regarding how to change these bulbs, just a few threads about how they seem to burn out often.
Thanks,
Stephen
