SLK 230 AC issues

Can someone help...........I have a 1999 SLK 230. I was driving down the road with the air blowing cold. My son pressed the EC button and the cold air turned to hot. Now I can't get it to blow cold anymore. Suggestions????????

2003 SLK320
ac issues

I'm far from an expert but I'll offer my experience. I have a 2003 slk320 in the shop for a similar issue. First they said it wasn't performing correctly because the system was overcharged. Picked up the car and the ac quit blowing cold shortly after. Took it back and they said they got it to blow cold by "cycling the key." After I asked what the heck that meant, they said turn the key of and restart the car and it may reset the compressor. They said that the compressor may be "lazy." So for $1300 they are replacing the compressor and they say it's functioning properly. I guess I'll know for sure when I pick it up tomorrow.

Hope it helps
JM

Push the ec button again to turn economy off and the AC/compressor on, the ec switch is stuck or blown fuse

I did that and it still doesn't do anything! I have check all of the fuses that I know of and couldn't find the fuse that goes with that button. Can you help? The light still comes on and goes off when I press the EC button, but still nothing but hot air!!

All that the ec button does when pushed is dissengage the AC compressor and open the fresh air vent, there are fuses under the hood and in drivers side of dash/ have to have door open to take cover off. If you can't find a bad fuse the relay is likely bad.

OK, this sounds completely stupid..but when we first got ours, hitting yet brakes or a turn signal and the a/c compressor would turn off. If pressed the ec button, honked the horn and hit the ec button again it would start working again. Crazy...and how a friend of mine ever figured out that combo on a test drive I will never know.

End result -- it was a short in the a/c controls and they replaced the controls there and it has been fine ever since. Now, it is on the third power seat switch...but that is a different story.

Don't know if this will help you or not.
