Hi everyone, what are some performance mods for my 98 SLK230??

Hello everyone, I am new to this board and hope to be a long time member. Anyway, I recently bought a 98 SLK230. I am looking for upgrades that do cool stuff!!! Either performance upgrades or exterior/interior upgrades. First though, I would like to start with the performance. So whats the best bang for the buck?? Also, the head unit canno be replaced on this car, right? I tried checking for compatibility with regular headunits, and they won't fit. What type of HU's are you guys using if you upgraded them?

Oh, and how do I upgrade those stock subs?? Which other subs will fit in there? Is installation easy to do yourself. I have done stereo installations for my camry as that was my previous car. Did all the wiring and everything myself. Had pretty nice system. HU, all 4 speakers replaced, one powerful 12" sub running off its own amp.

The most easy ones are:

-Airfilter upgrade (K&N)
-Kompressor-pulley makes it go faster, you get more pressure.
-Exhaust upgrade

All my vehicles get a K&N filter, I had the filter for my 2000 SLK 230 before I had the car. The next performace upgrade is ussually a cat-back exhuast, I put a Brabus one on the SLK. These give you a little bit of power, but I wanted theexhaust just to give the car a better tone. If you want more power, I would think the pulley upgrade would be the best bet. I did some research on this for my Pontiac GTP, but I sold that car before I decided to do the upgrade. However, other guys that have done it to the GTP, love it.

Do I just get a K&N Filter or do I replace the entire intake? Doesn't this one already have a cold air intake stock?

I believe the car already has a air intercooler because the air gets sucked in from the back of the engine bay, then put through the filter, then to the intercooler, then to the intake. I just did the filter for like $30.

For a 1998 SLK 230 the part number is 332767. The ones in your link are just conical filters designed to go on the end of a air intake pipe or a custom pipe.

pretty much any single din deck will fit into the oem space.
i'm using a kenwood currently, but others should fit too
you can either hard wire it or mod a VW wire harness.
make sure u get a radio adapter

Are you sure? When I select this car from Crutchfield, it says no fits or whatever? Don't want to hard wire cause I dont want to mess with the stock wiring. There is no Mercedes wiring harness???? What is radio adaptor?
