Reverse lights come on then go out
Hi folks, Hope you can help me with this issue.
I have a 1999 SLK 230 with 53K miles on her. For the past 6 months my left reverse light would go out and I would get a notice on the dash that a light is out. I would then open the trunk and turn the bulb housing a little (I previously changed the bulb) and the light would then function for a few weeks then I would go through the process again. Now both lights will function when I put her in reverse and then both would immediately go out.
I have already changed out the bulbs. Can you offer some suggestions where I should examine next. Is there a switch that needs replacing?

If you get them to work be jiggling with the bulb, it sounds like there is a loose connection in that area. If there is a problem with the switch, that is located in the shifter housing.
