Question 6 Speed Transmission Oil

Hi everyone. I recently picked up a 2004 manual SLK 320. I want to change the transmission oil, as well as the differential oil. What products work best for each?

Has anyone had issues with Liqui Moly LM2048 75W90 Fully Synthetic Gear Oil? Can I reasonably use it in both the transmission and the differential?

What other things should I look out for?

Yes, but I thought the OE transmission oil was 75W-80? That's what I come up with when I search online. So would 75W-90 synthetic be any different?

Yes despite the same 75W the cold viscosity will be a big difference .

This can effect the smoothness of the early gears when cold .

That is part of the reason why I want to do a transmission oil change. It is almost impossible to get the car into 1st gear, even when at a dead stop. Second gear also has to be forced in, and it never goes in smoothly. If the car is moving even 2 mph, forget about 1st gear, it will never go in. Has nobody experienced this before?

Dealers don't always have the best answers , get the manufacturer spec number and see how the specialist oil producers version compares .
