Yeah - it's neat! I'd been waiting a while for Mb-schaefer is to get back to selling these on Ebay.

I ordered it earlier in the week and it was a fairly smooth experience - he now accepts Paypal and has assured me my wind screen will be in Seattle next week!

I go mine from him as promised. I am glad he took our suggestions about Paypal because it was really a pain (and a bit expensive) to wire the money.

I just received mine today from MB Schaefer. Absolutely amazing dealer to do business with. They are a true MB dealer in Germany. Product was delivered from Europe in just over 1 week.... and what a difference in price as compared to the local dealers here in Toronto!!! I could have bought 3 of these from Germany for the price that the Toronto dealers sells 1 for!

Just got mine. Took a bit of a wait though - ordered on 9th, arrived today (28th).

Took a bit of patience on my part, but perfect transaction. I love the way it fits in swiftly and firmly and my wife's thrilled with the rear visibility at night.

I ordered mine on the 7th and got it here in Canada on the 26th...very straightforward and easy to install...works perfect with the top down maybe i'm biased but i think it's even better than the black stocking like original windscreen...and most importantly for HALF of the price compared to getting it at the dealership

Ginger, there's no bias needed to choose this over the default "bra" that MB ships

One quick question though-Is there any screws involved with the install? Or is it one of those snap-together deal... damn stealers in the US wated 700USD for a piece of plastic...... and quoted me a near 1k including install.

Edit: forgot to say-Many thanks for anyone that replies!

install!?!? if you get the MB OEM windshield - it snaps together in 30 seconds...ooops... i put it in inverted...let me fix that...ok...done...ah well, 60 seconds. no screws, no wires, no straps - just a few clicks of plastic nicely locking into place.

if you put in some of the aftermarket windshield - it does involve some work with screws and is a little more work to put in and remove.

Many Thanks for the clarification!

Definitely needs to pick one of these up then... that black net is s..t... imo

and the stealer can have a big HA! from me.. 700 + 250+ in labor to snap a piece of plastic onto my roll bar

sometimes I think they do smoke funny cigarettes

Actually, interesting that you mention the 700 number; that's what my dealer in Seattle quoted me (excl taxes).

Do all accessories get sold at prices above what's quoted on mbusa.com? Even on smaller item like cargo nets and stuff my dealer seems to ask me for mbusa price+ 10-20%.

Not unusual. I shop around and find better deals. Ironically I buy most of my Harley parts from Seattle area as the mark up out here pays for someones air fare to carry the parts... well, appears so anyway.

Yeah. I bet I can guess which Seattle area dealer gave you that quote. All I can say is that it is not "Smart" to shop there. I kept getting overmaked up quotes from them as well. The best dealer in the area is unfortunately all the way down in Tacoma. I bought my SLK350 there, I get it serviced there, and have bought accessories there. Never once have I felt that they were lying to me, or trying to take me for a "ride". And I live all the way north in Edmonds, yet I still think it is worth making the trip to Tacoma. (By the way, the new dealer in Lynnwood is the same owner as that "Smart" dealership. Turns out his brother in law is something like the national sales manager for MBUSA; that's how he got the second location, which is apparently against MBUSA policy.)

In any case, I bought my rear windshield from the German source as well. Took a little long to arrive because he actually mailed it rather than sending it DSL as he said he would, but it is well worth the money.

Just buy it from Jerry at www.formymercedes.com He's a great guy to deal with.

Edit: this seems to be a different product since you need a screwdriver to install...nvm! Has anyone tried or heard of this one?

I picked up some RainX and realised they also make a cleaner for glass. Seems to work fine... dunno if plexiglass needs something special?

Windscreen

I just received and installed the windscreen which I purchased via Ebay from MB Schaefer. It arrived in two weeks. It was easy to install. No tools necessary. I also have the plexiglass screen which required tools to install exactly the same as the one in midget fidger's post. It was installed for about 6 months. If anyone is interested in purchasing it, please e mail me at dtoguy@yahoo.com. $100 or best offer.

I don't think I would use a cleaner made for glass on it. It is made of Plexigolass (polycarbonate), essentially a plastic. Most glass cleaners have solvents in them which over time can affect certain plastics. I know that polycarbonate can have a tendency to yellow. The other thing you have to be careful of is what kind of cloth you use to clean it, as it will microscratch over time. (Anyone ever have a convertible rear window that became fogged in a couple of years?) I just bought a plastic cleaner from Meguiar's called PlastX. It is made for any clear plastic, like the rear windows of many rag tops which are also made of Plexiglass. I clean with water first to get dust off, and then polish it with the PlastX. It certainly works well. Anyone else found something better?

That's exactly where I bought mine. Also available online at Schucks. You really have to search the shelves for it though; it is with the glass cleaners, which in turn are mixed in with the polishes and waxes. At least that where it was at the Schucks I went to. Cost is about $7.50 and I think it is $6.99 online. Here's the link to it: PlastX at Schucks Be sure to use some water and a soft cloth to get the dust off first; otherwise the dust itself becomes an abrasive.

Difference

The ebay one clips on without tools (about 10 seconds). The other one requires removing the center storage as well as loosening and tightening a total of six screws (5-10 minutes). Hope this helps.

Stop by a Harley dealer if you don't see anything in a parts store. Windshields are plastic. Usually costs little more but always have it.
NO PAPER towels either, wood will scratch the surface, only use clean towels.
