Factory Blue Tint

I want to add the factory blue tint to my slk...my friend told me that it's reflective so that you have to get real close to see what's inside the car? It'll be great if any of you guys can post pics of how it looks like...cuz from the pics i've seen it just seems like regular blue coloured windows with total transparency.

Although the Mercedes light blue tinted windows are unique, there are other tints (gray) that would probably look better. I can't say I've ever seen an aftermarket tint close to the Mercedes factory blue . I think it would be hard to find something close in blue that would look good. What color is your SLK?

I never knew MB offered a 'factory blue tint'. Is it something you can have the dealer install?

Also, can you post some pics of it?

Yea, some of the MB sedans come with (factory) lightly blue tinted windows. Never seen the blue tint on any other vehicles other than MBs. Sorry, I don't have any pics.

Mine just came with a blue tint - didn't order it. I don't like it. It looks nice from the outside, but it makes the world look gloomier from inside the car.

It's not something you can install - the glass comes that color. I suppose if you wanted to change out all of the glass it's possible.

Ginger - not sure that you can add the MBZ factory tint, but you should be able to fairly easily obtain a blue tint from a vendor who does tinting....

Here's a pic of the factory tint:

Yup, that's the light blue factory tint. I've only seen it on some MBs (C & E class?) not sure which cars it comes on. It's unique, different, not sure I like it. If "I" was going with aftermarket tint, it wouldn't be the light blue.

I think that blue tint comes on the CLK500 cabriolet also, I could be wrong but I recall seeing one on the showroom floor and the windows looks a little blue.

I'm with Josh K. It is not tint. It is actually called blue glass. Tint will peel off if scratched but the you cannot scrape the blue off.

It's still tinted, because it's not clear glass. I agree, it won't scratch off. It's part of the glass manufacturing process.

yeah i agree it's still "tinted". However when i think of tint, I think of the film type that peels off.
