Another stupid 'stock' radio question

I have looked all through the manual, and cannot find anything on programming the radio such that when the left side up and down keys are pressed, it moves through your presets instead of tuning.

Is there some way of getting it to do this? Reaching over to constantly press the 'numbers' on the right of the radio is very distracting. And with the way I drive, I really don't need any distractions

(perhaps if I had bought my car in-state, and had an actual dealer to ask, it would have helped )

Any advice?

As far as I'm aware this can not be done on the SLK. Don't know why as it is commonplace with other makes. So- you'll have to keep pushing the little buttons on the right side of the console.

From what I have read, the steering wheel controls on previous MB vehicles used to scroll through the presets. For whatever reason, now they just scroll up or down through the radio frequencies not the presets. I don't think there is anyway to change that. Seems pretty stupid, as I would also prefer it to scroll through my presets.

I prefer it to tune, rather than roll through presets, but maybe that's just because I travel so much that the presets are often useless.

BTW, be glad you didn't buy yours in Dallas... Park Place MB INSISTS in putting their ugly f-ing logo on every car they sell. It's on my brother's ML. Hideous.

LOL! I have NEVER allowed for a dealer to advertise on my cars! I always tell them up front, and if they don't listen, I make them change the trunk lids out with another vehicle.

I personally think it's pretty tacky... and Dallas is so full of it!

Another genius Merc Electrical Product

Blimey - if what you guys are saying is right - what on earth is wrong with Merc. It would make total sense to be able to tune with the bottons - what a big oversight. Honestly I sometimes wonder whether Mercs ever go through useability tests sometimes!

I've worked with a few car dealers (professionally, not personally) that insist on the logo. Two dealerships in Charlotte (owned by big names in the NASCAR circuit, but I won't be too specific!) will not sell a car without their logo. They will walk a sale before selling a car without a logo.

I always debadge the dealer . Pretty easily done with green rubbing alcohol rubbed lightly over logo. Doesn't hurt the paint if done swiftly.

I agree. Removing the dealer logo would be my first mod, the first day.

Fortunately, my dealer puts their logo on the license plate frame. It's easily changed.

Depending on what license frame the trend here is to put one out of area on you rcar. Mine in NC reads Palm Beach Mercedes it is chrome silver on a black car and looks nice. I will post a pic. Another guy has a Encinitas Mercedes Tag Very nice.
