R171... rear spoiler or no?

I'm thinking about putting on an AMG rear spoiler on my Iridium Silver SLK350 with AMG package. Looking to get people's opinion on what looks better. Do you think that the car looks better with the AMG spoiler on the rear or is it nicer with a clean trunk lid?

Thanks!

I have the non-AMG SLK and I got it. The moment I stepped back after installing it, I knew I made the right choice. Looks much better with it. I'm amazed how plain the rear end looks without it.

Well, I hate to be contrarian, but I think the smooth rear end looks much more like that of a classic sports car. Elegant, understated, yet powerful. Sometimes less is more. I think the spoiler looks "stuck on" rather than integrated into the lines of the car. But then, to each his own. The only person you really need to ask is yourself.

Agree on both counts. I like it without and each must mod as they like.

Me too... I like it the way it is. However, I DESPISE non-functional spoilers. I think they're well named. They SPOIL the car. Obviously, I can accept functional spoilers, but I have a lot of trouble believing that that little lip does anything for aerodynamics.

However, the bottom line is, if you're a spoiler guy, get a spoiler. I'm not a spoiler guy, so I won't. It won't hurt my feelings a bit if you ruin your car... I mean, alter your car to suit your tastes...

Seriously, do what you think looks best. You know what it looks like with a spoiler, and you know what it looks like without one. If you prefer the spoiler, GO FOR IT, and never think twice about it. It can always be removed if you don't like it, but you will.

You know you want it. Get it.

That is the thing... I don't know if I want to get it. I'm kind of mixed right now. I love the way the SLK55 looks with it, then again I like it clean as well the way it is.

Here's my $.02 worth. I wouldn't put it on ONLY because I have a std 350. BUT I believe you said you have the AMG pkg, therefore, you are not trying to be" a phony" so I think it would be fine to add it. It only is offensive when someone is attempting to be something other than what he actually is. I saw it often when guys would add WS-6 hoods to a plain Firebird (not a T/A)

It has nothing to do with being a "phony". I think the car looks better with it. Some may not. I never intended to deceive the unknowing public that I had an AMG. I don't think a rear spoiler is all that convincing.
