Yes, it's available, someone at benzworld.org just brought an slk55 with neck warmer. Pics posted on that site.

Also, if you look in the 07 book, this option is combined with heated seats, and printed in parens is (only slk 280/350). I seriosly doubt they were ever combined if you cant get em together next season.
One more difference, a new indiv option is the dual zone climate control, i think thats what they call it. An option for all cars.
Far as the windblock goes, I see no sign of either a cloth of plexi in the brochure. Maybe what they do is provide one as std but dont mention it coz its attached semi-permanantly, just grabing at straws.
Say, let me know ok boys, anyone out there got an slk55 with the neck warmer?
Also have Airscarf on SLK55. On a 55 the heated seats were standard (vs option on the other models). Airscarf was an option (as it was on the other models).

Also the dual zone climate control is NOT a new option, been there from the beginning. However, whether it's in a package with other options are not, does vary by year and by country.

OK! Geezum, you guys sure know your stuf, guess i came to the right place.
Been looking into insurance, wow! like 2,000/yr quotes!!! Where do you guys insure your cars? Geico? Progressive? Whose cheapest? MAybe im saying the wrong things. They asked if its a sports car I said YES, but now thinking about it the 55 has an auto xmission doesnt it. Ive got a great driving recond no points and no accidents, 1,000 per 6 months sounds kind of high to me, but ive never owned a 69,000 $ car before either!

The only thing your insurance company needs from you in the VIN # of the car, from that, they should be able to tell what model, type, brand, etc your car is. They shouldn't have to ask you whether it's a sports car. You are too nice, I would have told them, it's a Yugo, charge accordingly. Not knowing your age, marital status, boob size, hair color. j/k. I can't comment on price, it might be normal where you live. I pay $52/month for my SLK350 with American Family, perfect record, no points.

I have Progressive.

I paid over $1,000 for 6 months with the 2004 C230 Sport, because I had accidents/tickets on my record.

With my 2001 Pontiac Grand Am SE, I pay about half that, about $600+

I called them to ask about a 2007 SLK350, and they had to give me rates for 2006 model. They said that a 2-car discount rate would be about $1200 to $1500, can't remember the exact amount.

BTW, I no longer have any tickets or at-fault accidents on record, since it's been over 3 years.

Also, check out my insurance thread:

anyway.... i got a month to wait...

how do you guys already have your 2007 SLKs? Do you have to be a special customer or something?

This is only my second purchase so far (both new cars)... and I am planning on getting 2 more in the next few years: a 2008 C-class, and then an S-class.

Also getting a BMW 3-series during that time... hopefully, the badly reviewed iDrive will have some improvements by then...?

Oh, and maybe it's because I requested Fall delivery... although I was hoping for September, instead of early October.

Thanx to the guy who mentioned American Family, thats an Insurance company right? Ok, can any American join or is it exclusive? Just 52 bucks! thats unbelieveable. Come on boys, tell me what y'all are paying and to who!

apparently, there is still the old dual climate control... and this new "digital" dual control is not really worth the $700+ it costs

I checked out American Family, but it seems as if they are not available in my area.

Back to the topic: I went to the dealer yesterday to change my seat color to black (I thought it was ash by default, but it turns out that it was actually beige, so I'm glad I went to change it before it was too late!)

I also asked for the Illuminated Door Sills option, but they don't seem to have it in their computer system... they said to check back later, and maybe it will be an after-delivery option for the 2007 SLK...

hey, i got a call back from the dealer the next day, and they said that the Illuminated Door Sills can be installed as an accessory after they have the car, so I should be able to get it installed before I pick it up.. woo hoo!

I have another question now: Have any of you installed the iPod integration kit after getting your car? Or should I just add it as an option now...

I am asking because I have 4 weeks for delivery, and the manager was saying that I cannot add options when it gets too close to the delivery date (the order record shows up in red on their system).

I will ask them anyway, but would appreciate it if one of you could answer this now while I am still at work.. thanks!

Now for the shocker, call them back and ask them the total prices for the lighted sills, parts and labor (every quote I got was >$800).

LOL, I would rather not ask!

.. the website mentioned a $700+ price, so that means the labor is only a 100 bucks. Which isn't a whole lot considering I have almost $8k+ worth of options already...

I remember spending $300 for parts+labor for each tire on my C230... I had 3 tire changes in 2004!

I am hoping to get a good deal on the final price and the APR, so let's see...

huh?

Why would I be doing tire work at the dealer when I'm the one who spent almost a thousand bucks on 3 tires?

...In 2004, I got 2 flat tires (one on the highway, one in downtown DC), and once, they wouldn't pass VA state inspection without me changing a worn-out tire (it was only scraped a little on the sidewall)

Oh it sounded like you were buying tires from the dealer and having them install it. I was thinking "why not go to a regular ol tire shop."

Well, I found it easy to drop off the car there and have them fix it. Every time I did it, I thought the same thing to myself.. always thinking that I would get it fixed elsewhere the next time, but never did...

I guess part of me just didn't want other people touching the car... hehe

oh well... I will try to be more careful with the new car.. :-)

Then it would be even worse than that! At the time I was looking the parts were about $400 and the labor was another $400.

What makes no sense (and it's been discussed to death before) why this isn't a factory option. Doing it at the factory would incur minimal additional labor and no left over parts (the unlit sills).

I guess the factory sills are relatively cheap, and not everyone wants this option, so they just want to make more money on parts and labor.

ok, you all, I was just told that the car would be completely built 2 weeks from now, so I will have the VIN number, then I can reserve my plates at the DMV.

The car will be ready for delivery in 3 weeks, so I will be doing the financing then...

QUESTION: How much below MSRP should I negotiate for?

$48,175 M.S.R.P:
$700 Diamond Silver Metallic:
$0 Black Leather
$1,430 7-Speed Automatic Transmission
$440 6-Disc CD Changer
$4,850 P3: Premium III (Includes I and II):
$970 323 Heating Package
$723 SLK Illuminated Door Sills
=======================
$57,288 TOTAL
=======================

p.s. the Door Sills will probably cost more (with labor) since it's an aftermarket accessory.

Ordered cars are harder to get anything off MSRP, I would try to get at least $1000, $2000 would probably be the most your dealer will give. An SLK on the dealer's lot this time of year goes up to $4,000 off MSRP.

If I got the 2006 model in late 2007, I'm sure I would've had more deals... but I'm sure the 2007 model will be hard to bring down, but I will try to get the best deal I can.

But at least I will be better off as far as depreciation is concerned!
