Thanks, but that first website seems to be in German.. and the "news" link points to some SLK R171 pictures, but the subsequent page asks me to install Flash even though I have Flash installed.

I will do searches on the other forums too.

ok thanks.

I finally got through to the "English" page, and clicked on R171 then Lambostyledoors.
http://www.x-t-c.com/catalog/product...roducts_id=235

The shopping cart tells me that the price is:
1 690.00 Euros = 2 147.99 U.S. dollars

Apparently, this includes 16% tax, and then there's shipping:
49.90 Euro = 63.4229 U.S. dollars

I wonder where I can get it installed? I will have to check the local shops around DC/MD/VA.. I haven't seen a single R171 in this area with those doors..

that 16% is a vat tax and you do not pay that.

There's a guy named Beleriand or B55 that has them. Not sure who he bought them from, but he is from California and they installed them. I think he's a member here, but I know he is at Benzworld. You should PM him to get his feedback. I think he paid around $ 3000.00 installed.

Is it this guy here?
https://mbworld.org/forums/members/32813-beleriand.html

$3k is pretty cheap for parts and labor combined!

I wonder if it voids my warranty and if my local dealership will still be able to service my car if anything goes wrong with the doors.

I will send a PM to the guy..

I have the LSD Doors for sale designed for the SLK R171. I used it for almost a year, took it off because is eye catching, too much attention and I feel uncomfortable.

If you are interested, I am willing to let it go for US$700.

PM me if you are keen. I bought mine from lsd germany

I got a PM from Franco from this forum, with info about his company's Lambo door offering.

I asked him if I could ask about his company/product's legitimacy on this forum, and he also sent me a link to a PDF file he uploaded to their website:

http://www.salvatoremotorsports.com/lsddoorkitr171.pdf

Anyone have anything to say about this Salvatore Motorsports (both positive and negative comments) ?

Persoanlly, I'd spend that $2500 - $3000 on other mods.

What others would you recommend? So far, I am thinking about getting newer wheels... and I got free floor mats from the dealership, that I am going to put in soon. :-)

Did you see the new 360 view I posted? Check out my sig !!!!

You said it, WHEELS. I think better wheels have the greatest impact on the appearance of the SLK. I don't like the standard multi spoke wheels on the SLK. There are many options available. Consider minimum 18" wheels.

Yeah.. there are 2 many spokes... too many that get dirty and too many to clean... and you can see the dirty brakes too...

Check out the wheels on my 2004 C230 (see wrecked pic in my sig).. now those wheels I like.. :-)

Check eBay for those wheels. I've seen them listed. Do a eBay search for SLK, or specifically SLK 18" wheels and see what you get.

new wheels would be a much better investment than lambo doors. I have had them in the past and they are honestly a pain in the long run. for instance when you pull up to the garage to get petrol you can't just quickly jump out of the car. They doo attract attention and no denying they look cool, but wheels would be a much smarter idea in my opinion.

2006 Brabus B55 (Brabus Modified SLK55)
Sorry it took me so long to see this thread and respond.

I got my doors done at Vertical Doors, Inc. in Corona, CA. They did a great job and were very professional. They cost just under $3K. Ther Vertical Door application is nice because it is fully bolt-on and your stock doors can be replaced at any time. Lambo Doors, Inc. and others have a weld-on application that is permanent. I have had the doors for 6 months now and they have been no trouble at all.

I attend a lot of car meets here in Southern Cal. Before I got the doors, I already had wheels, engine mods, interior mods, etc. But nobody really started noticing my car until I got the damn doors! Pretty funny. I have always seen the doors as a gimmick. I love the way they look and enjoy the attention. But they should be way down on your list of mods to run out and get.

I suggest checking out BRABUS. I have had a good experience with them. Give my friend Matt a call at their North American HQ (949) 797-0177. Kleemann also has great engine mods - although I don't care for their cosmetic stuff much. Check out both.

Good luck.
