SLK/R171: two speeding tickets in same day
wifey and i are on business trip. i left radar detector in other car, so I set cruise at 61MPH. state cop passes going opposite direction , turns around and writes me for 63 in a 55. Wife is pissed. Continue journey. Wifey are I are talking about radar as we are coming around corner. Cop is setting next to 50MPH speed sign, I look down and I am doing 45MPH- no problem. Wrong--- lights come on cop says I am speed ing at 45MPH I say in a 50- nope in a 30 . Sign was back in city two miles- what a *****. I took photos of cop and speed sign togther will ttry to post later
Think I get a lawyer on these.
Double shock to the system. Sorry for your trouble. It could have been any of us. Wasn't your fault, blame AMG. I've got to ask. What was your average speed AFTER the second ticket? This
is for you. Chin up!

it seems totally retarded but people do get written for 1 mph over. just not often.
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
I still think 8mph is somewhat lame... at least on highways/rural areas. In a school zone/residential I think it's appropriate.
On highways, there's always people out there 10+ over the limit, many times it's me. At that speed, I understand that I may be ticketed and so I scan everywhere, front/back/sides/onramps/offramps etc. In fact, I'm probably a safer driver while traveling 80mph than many traveling 60mph just because I'm so alert.

This paragraph shall not apply to evidence obtained through the use of devices authorized by paragraph (3) within a school zone.
on the way to Portland, I was clocked at 67 in the 60 zone
and my friend in the other car was caught at 70 in the 60 zone, AT THE SAME TRIP. So both of us were busted.
My brother did the same thing, when he'd raced a GTO on an emptied highway and the cop busted them, flashed the GTO to exit and both went separate ways. I don't condone this type of behavior and certainly don't make it a habit, I prefer going fast on the track, I get instigated all the time but 99% of the time, I just cruise along and go about my business.
