I believe all MB supercharged engines have intercoolers. The only R171 model with a supercharger that I know of is the the SLK 200K. It is not available in the US, so most of us haven't seen one, but it would have an intercooler.
On some site of the slk200k they say that it hasn't got a intercooler. It's very vage. But any way here is my next question.
Can you put a sports intercooler on a R171 200?
Cause what I want to do is a SLK200(R171) and put in :
- the klemman chip tuning
- the klemman pully's
- the klemman exhaust header(or some thing like that)
- a sport intercooler
- and a NOS N-tercooler to put on the intercooler
after doing this I think it wil put out a 250-280hp.
Or are my calculations incorrect?

I'm pretty sure the 200K is intercooled. I don't think it's the ideal platform for extensive tuning, but you should make inquiries with a Kleeman representative. I'd consider putting the money into upgrading to a model with a more powerful engine. MB engineers the car as a package, with powertrain, suspension, brakes, etc. all matched. An SLK 350 will give you that power with handling and reliability as well.Originally Posted by dimiE60

For another $15K you can get a SLK55. That makes more sense. On the other hand, people have supercharged them. A Kleeman stage 4 SLK 55 is good for 540 HP. If you're gonna mess around, make it worthwhile.Originally Posted by Vodil

I've checked into it, you have an option of $34K installed (ART) and or $20K (some other german tuner company) installed, both prices are outrageous, doesn't make sense, much cheaper getting a SLK55, Kleemann is suppose to come out with one soon for less than $20K but that's still overpriced. No real performance mod's for the SLK350 without giving up an arm or a leg. Originally Posted by Vodil

thanks for the info whoover.
And I know what you want to say whit the slk 55.
But I live in belguim and the problem here is that gasoline is expensive
1.5$ for a liter and a gallon is about 5liters and if you want real good gasoline its about 2$ per liter.
And if you are under 30years old you whil never get the paper work done for a engin bigger than a 2500cc. Cause the tax's are to high and insurance company's whil never permit it. For the V6 350 slk you pay about 1400$ only on tax and than about 2000 to 3000$ for insurance.
and for the 200slk its only 300$ tax and about 1500$ insurance.
the younger you are the more expensive it get.
And a car like the TVR tuscane is illegal cause it's a 6cyl in line whit 400hp and they didn't have some law for it to ask a lot of money for it.
It's like this a engine in line is less expensive than a engin in V configuration and the more cyl you got the more you have to pay and the more CC you got the more you pay.
So a 4 inline 3000cc is less expensive than a V6 3000cc.
Don't ask why.
It's realy f**kt up here.
Thats why I whant to tune a Slk 200K so bad, it's the only way to have a fast car.
Sorry for my bad English language.

ExploreDimi,
Your English is fine. Much better than my Flemish or French.
I know the economics of owning a car are very different in Europe. I think that if you want to stay with a smaller-displacement engine, there are better cars to modify. Mercedes makes some great engines, but they're very expensive to get more power from, compared with other marques. This is especially true of the smaller engines, because they concentrate their performance engineering on the larger displacement ones.
Our gallons are less than 4 litres, so petrol is not quite so cheap as you imagine in the US. (England uses a different gallon than the US, and it's almost 5 litres, so you weren't crazy.) But it's a lot cheaper than Europe.
But no doubt cars are a great bargain here. Between the taxation differences and the very competitive market here, we get treated very well. If we time it right, we can do very well when models change. I got my W220 S65, brand new, for the equivalent of about 80,000 euros. That is a very different situation that most of the world, and most Americans appreciate it greatly.
Good luck getting something you will enjoy.
