Questions About Slk280

hi guys im BRANDON! 16

uhmm i just got my licence TODAY! im very happy, my grandparents are going to get me basically a car 30-40g's but im going to beg for a slk280 with all the addons

nav, p3, lights, airscarf

BUT i do have some concerns about the car, im 6'3 and 220lbs so im not a small guy lol, was wondering has anyone have problems fitting into this car?? i mean its nearly the same size as a s2000 and i REALLY dont fit in it..

also does the plexi glass panel that supposedly lowers the wind sound make the car look dumb? would you recommend getting it?

THANKS GUYS!

edit: and also is the 08 model worth the wait??

2006 SLK280.
i personally think your a bit young for this type of power. you should get a years experience first in something less powerful.
however if you do get it, fair play.
you will have no problem fitting in the car, i am 6ft2 and have plenty of room. the 280 is a great motor, and im sure you will adore it if your lucky enough to get it.

You should fit ok.
My opinion, the panel doesn't look as dumb as driving with the windows up and the top down. But then it is YOURS so drive it like you like to....
BTW, I don't have a screen... windows down.. now what was that whistling sound :-)

Diddo, go for the windscreen---looks nice and lowers wind noise considerably.
My cousin is 6/1, and he doesn't like to ride in the car. It's not big enough
for him. I think the passenger side is shallower.
Anyway test drive to see if you fit.
Not worth the wait for 08. Happy hunting.

You can say that b/c you live in hawaii, when I drive in 28 degrees during the winter, top down and window down is too cold, can only drive it with windows up, airscarf, and heated seat on, it's actually very comfortable, although I get weird looks from everyone, now I'm not sure if it's b/c the top is down and the windows up or b/c it's 28 degrees, and I have the top down.

The plexiglass windscreen looks classy. I use the fabric windscreen that came with the SLK and I also like the look. I'm sure they help some. We look a trip on Memorial day, hot day. My wife likes to close her window, not because it was cool, just to reduce the air flow. I agree, I don't like the look. On the way home, around 8:00 PM, we rode with the top down. I was wearing a short sleeve shirt and after awhile it got cool. My wife suggested I raise my window. I tried it, and we continued the trip, top down with complete comfort. So yea, it does work, makes top down more comfortable, but it does look dumb.

there isn't anything wrong with getting a nice first car, obviously if you can afford it. just know you WILL be making small mistakes here and there, so i wouldn't go for anything over $35-40k. i made the mistake of buying a fully loaded audi s4, like a week after getting my license. however i waited til' i was 18 before i got my license, so i had about a 1 year of driving experience. little scrapes here and there, curb rashes and etc. not what i wanted.

Why not the SLK350? You can easily get it for under 40,000$ and its much faster than the 280. If I were you though, I would go for a used E46 M3 for that kind of money.

Right. You will be disappointed with 280. SLK350 is what you want to drive. However I am not sure if you can get it brand new under $40K with all options. $45K looks more realistic.

I went from a 2004 G35 Coupe Auto to the 2006 SLK 280 auto and performance-wise they are about the same. The SLK is more entertaining and of much better quality, though.
