2007 280 SLK
First post, 280 SLK (Help me)

Hello everyone, I'm currently in the process of buying a 2007 Black/Black 280 SLK, the specs are somewhat limited, it does have heated seats but the other items i've been reading about it doesn't contain. I'll be trading in my 98' Acura with an unpaid balance of $40000 in front of me. I'm worried I guess that the 2008 version will be better somehow, plus i'd it to have a few more features than the 'basic' I guess.

Any suggestions on waiting or just enjoying the beauty that this car is, it is a gorgeous car but the unpaid balance for what I'm paying for and the worry of a better version coming out in a few months makes me hesitant, ANY feedback would be most helpful. Thank you and please don't beat up a first time poster lol

I haven't heard of any major differences between the '07 and '08 models other than the fact that you could possibly get the remaining '07s for much less money now.

I just picked up my '07 280 black/beige a week ago and loving it. Though, in Oregon you may want to consider trying to get one with Airscarf for the winter. Of course, being where I am, no cars exist here with the Airscarf so I don't know how effective it really is

How much less have you seen them go for? I'll definately wait if it's considerable. Thanks for responding. And yes, definately need the airscarf here

No major changes, very minor facelift, most people can't tell them apart, me included, it's not worth getting a '08 if you can get a great deal on an '07, nothing you would regret, but do get the airscarf, it's very unique to the SLK and something that is very useful if it gets cold. Good luck and welcome to the forum.

KrisK, HALT, STOP, BACKUP. Take a couple of days to think this over. I'd be concerned with an unpaid balance of 40 large. Mafia term, I love it. The SLK is a great car and it's easily to become consumed with it. I'm only one voice, but I'm a financial genius. Not really, but it sounded good. Seriously, there are many great deals on used SLKs. I found two, purchased both, and feel that used versus new is a viable option with the SLKs. Most are well cared for and many are exceptionally low mileage. Also, consider a R170 SLK (1998-2004) for greater savings. Determine what your requirements are: model, year, color (interior & exterior) and "must have" options. Options are important. The right car with limited or missing options will make the next 48-60 months a life time. Decide first, and then react. As stated, with the upcoming release of the 2008s, remaining 2007s will be priced to move. As of this past March, I was patiently waiting for the arrival of the 2008s, and decided I found the perfect SLK for me, a USED 2005 SLK 55. Good luck with your decision.

Thank you for your post, upon further review of the SLK I'm looking at it's nothing but a 'stock' SLK, no options are on it, it doesn't even have heated seats I thought (like an idiot) that would be a standard feature, I mean they want me to have an unpaid balance for a stock version of a new SLK, I don't think so, I defaintely want some specific options on it, the Xenon Lights and the airscarf are a must, haven't decided on the Harmon K. stereo but might go that route. I've decided to wait to purchase, as much as this pains me which is does alot, I'd rather have a car that I want than a fast purchase that will bother me down the road for not having the options I want. The 2007 model though is what I will stick with, the front end of the elongated (sp) nose is so damn nice..love that style.

Thanks for ppl welcoming to the board, I'm not an owner yet, but I will be soon ....very soon.

Congratulation on making a wise decision. Buying a car without the options that you want will quickly make you sorry that you bought it.

Good job, don't ever order a car w/o the options you want, if it's within the budget, get everything and not regret, that's what I did, checked all the option boxes.
