SLK/R171: Thulite red/storm red/firemist red/amber red

Thulite red/storm red/firemist red/amber red
Can any one tell me, is Thulite red (541) the same as Storm red (paint code?).
And is Firemist red (548), the same as Amber Red (?).
And if they are, can anyone post a photo of a storm red &/or firemist red.

I have a 2005 SLK 55 in Firemist Red. It's difficult to photograph. Goes from bright metallic red in the sunlight to a plum color in the shade. Along with Iridium silver, the Firemist red are my two favorite colors. Here's two examples. The third photo is my SLK 55 in Firemist red (left) and In2dwww 2007 Storm red SLK 55 (right). The Firemist a a little lighter, but if not side by side, you would never know the difference. I hope this helps.

ML 63 AMG
Thanks so much for the photos, side by side like that I can really see the difference. We are ordering a new ML 63 AMG and our only option is Carneol Red which on other models of cars seems very ordinary, muddy and a bit brown. We can't get to see one in person.
I have had a black 63 and it looks great when it is washed, but is a bugger to keep clean. Also we mainly have silver and black here and I would like something a bit different. I love these red colours, but I can't get to see one in the flesh anywhere!
Mercedes Benz are telling me that it will cost an extra $5000 to paint it in either storm or firemist red and an extra 6 weeks on top of the 4 months we are already waiting and then there is the whole resale thing.
Part of me says go black again, but most of me says what the hell, go with what you like.
In your opinion, since the ML is such a large car, which red would you pick, if at all?

In your opinion, since the ML is such a large car, which red would you pick, if at all?Given the choice between any red that Mercedes offers, I prefer the Firemist red. I think it's a classy, elegant, beautiful color. Five thousand is a bit of a premium for paint. I had a black car ONCE, never again. My second choice would be Iridium silver. Sleek beautiful look and super easy to maintain. Here's one more shot of my Firemist red SLK in direct sunlight. I saw a new ML 63 ///AMG at the local dealer last week - NICE! Good luck with your decision.

If the codes numbers differ, the paints will be diffrent. Sometimes only a subtle hue altered.
