AMG OEM Wheels?
I am considering changing my original 350SLK (non AMG) wheels (the 10 spoke ones) for the ones that came with the 55AMG or the Sport Option on the standard SLK. I am very tired of trying to keep the 10 spokes with ten small spaces clean.
Two questions:
1. Are these the same wheels as the ones that came with the AMGs (I presume so because of the model 171)?
Tire Rack AMG 171
2. Do you use the same size wheels for all four tires, even though the front tires are 225/45ZR17 while the rears are 245/40ZR17?
Thanks

MBZ SLK
1. It looks very similar
2. No. the one you have listed is 17x7.5 is for the front with 37mm offset. Tirerack has the 17x8.5 as well, I've seen them before with 30mm offset for the rears.

Maverick, I think what you want are the ones that come with the AMG sports package on the SLK 350. They have 5 flat spokes and are probably the easiest to clean of any Mercedes SLK wheels.

Mav, i clean my non amg 350 10 spoke oem wheels once a day and it takes me the whole of 60 secs per wheel! paper towel and water. flat surfaces first then around the lip. then the inside of each spoke. finish with the indentation of each spoke and swirl out the middle. of course i am **** retentive and also vacuum once a day and leather the seats twice a week and wash the windows once a day and wipe down the car once a day and gel the tires once a day. quick! stop me!!!!!

Yes. That's what I want. Emphasis on easiest to clean. So can I only get those from an MB dealer?

But the rims pick up that very dark, sticky brake dust, which does not just come off with pressure washing, and the many angles (particularly pointing up) that the 10 spoke rims presents makes it hard to even try it with just the pressure wash.

A pressure washer?! That's gotta be bad somehow. Some guys worry that using a leaf blower to dry the car will make small dirt particles fly too fast and scratch the paint.

I use multiple coats of Zaino on the car body (as well as the wheels), so I can keep the car remarkably clean with just a pressure washer, and never have to apply a rag or brush that can put swirl marks in the finish.
