I'm glad that your brother and his GF weren't seriously injured. When I was ordering my SLK in April 2004, I was quite impressed with the amount of high strength steel that M/B stated they used in building the R-171. In your case, good engineering paid off.

Im sorry to hear about that but I am sure the SLK can be fixed if it didnt absorb that much damage to the roofs system.
I'm glad that your brother didnt get hurt, it shows how luxury cars are truly worth it in cases of accidents like this.

You paid for what you got. Car can be replaced, but not the dirver nor the passanger. Sorry for the lost, but you should be glad that the SLK protected your brother and his Gf that night.

now we got back the full price we paid for the SLK, so now we might as well wait for the 2009 SLK ![naughty](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/naughty.gif)
btw guys, do you think the SLK actually got shoot up in the air during the accident?
because how could a Mazda Flip a 4000lbs SLK? i only see damage from the passenger side and like no scratch on the driver side, so i think the SLK actually flew in mid air before it lands on its roof

That car looks totalled. Rolled-over means that there was definitely too much damage done to the car. It was never built to sustain weight in a position like that.
Also, the SLK doesn't weigh 4000lb's.

SLK350 is roughly 3250lbs, not 4000. Either way, F=MxA, the mazda maybe light but if it was going fast enough there could be enough force, the fact that the mercedes flipped shows just how strong the shell is b/c it absorb the blow and deflected it via rolling (instead of just having the driver/passenger have taken the full force of the hit), thats a good thing, not a bad thing.

Glad everyone came out ok. Little SLKs are tougher and offer more protection than small size would leave you to believe. My girlfriend was in a wreck in our 350 a few months ago, 65 mph, she walked away with bruises. Negotiate hard with the insurance and upgrade to a 55-we just got our 55 in last week and loving it.
