99 SLK 230 - US Model

Bi-Xenon Lights

I will be ordering an 09 SLK 350 at the end of the year and am considering adding the Lighting Package. Besides cornering lights and headlamp washing system it contains "Bi-Xenon Headlamps".

Can somebody tell me what Bi-Xenon headlamps are?

Are they needed? Are they worth the extra $1,030?

Not needed and the price is high considering they should be standard on the SLK. But they're worth every penny. Factory xenons are the best lighting system available. Nothing worse than passing on an option you'll regret not getting later.

I agree with -1-. I wouldn't buy an SLK without the Bi-Xenons.

I agree I really like them on my C-Class.

I'd probably hate to buy a new car now without them. The $1000 sucks, but it does feel worth it in a way.

My '09 SLK didn't have the lighting package but the lights appear to be great. Are the Bixenon's that much brighter? Or are they different in another way than the standard? or maybe I have them and don't know it ? I've also seen some aftermarket kits, but there appears to be some controversy about made in Japan, made in China, Fake, will not cause error messages, etc. Any input on these? Thank you.

PS- consider the P2 package with voice control, built in bluetooth and Navigation. I think its well worth the extra cost.
