today we got our first three SLK, five other will arrive until the presentation on the 27.march. for sure i tooked one for a little test-drive. i was really impressed about the handling of this car, not very mercedes-like, very sporty but niiiiice. even the small 200 kompressor gives you a nice bang. the design looks very awsome in real, you can not compare it with the photos, even the often discussed nose looks really sexy now. interior qualitiy is also very mercedes-like and due the aluminium nice to feel.

Thanks for posting. Looking forward to pictures of the other 5 when they show up. By the way, is that the new "Iridiumsilber" (New Paint Code #775) and if so how is it different from the previous brilliant silver?

 

yes it is the new "iridium silver" but i cannot tell you the difference between 744 (brillant silver, which isn´t avalible for the SLK now) it looks like a silver mercedes and a really nice one, maybe a bit more blue.

Maybe MB is turning around with QC now (they said they would in future models arriving, mainly 2005-2006)

 

Just came back from my MB dealer, from a fist sight of the new SLK. I have to say:The car is a real beauty. The F 1 nose fits perfect to the car, the car appeals very sporty. The interior space is much better compared to the former car. I'm very tall (191 cm) and have no problems sitting in the car. The interior quality is really good. I guess, MB is on a good way back to better quality appeal.

So forget Z 4, TT, 350 Z and of cours Boxter, this is the new heartbreaker.

@ Felix: Ist es bei MB üblich, Kunden mit dem Satz: "Steigen sie bitte aus dem Fahrzeug aus!" barsch anzufahren?? Schließlich werden schon Bestellungen für den neuen SLK entgegengenommen. Der erste Eindrück ist doch entscheidend, ich werde jedenfalls dort (LP) kein Fahrzeug kaufen!
Verkäufer begründete dies mit Vorschriften von MB, da das Auto erst am 27. präsentiert wird!

hmm, wo standen denn die neuen SLK? also unsere acht stück sind bis zum 27.märz gut versteckt. da hat also kein kunde was zu suchen. sonst wäre eine groß angelgte präsentation mit geladenen gästen und tuch wegziehen ein bisschen daneben. aber, bis zum 27. ist ja nicht mehr so lange hin und dann wird endlich über öffentliche strassen geräubert.

Thanks for the link grafz44! Does anyone know if the SLK COMMAND supports Bluetooth-I found this pic of the SLK COMMAND showing the Service screen and it looks like there's a Bluetooth softkey(third softkey on the right)

 

Just learned that the new shade of silver (Iridium Silver in Germany) will be appearing on model year 2005 ML class SUV's which should be available at U.S. Dealers before the SLK's arrive. This should give us an earlier chance to at least see the new color which is replacing brilliant silver on the SLK.

 

Das ist richtig das Auto steht am Salon in Genf. Jedoch müssen alle R171 bis zum 27. März versteckt bleiben wie Felix bereits gesagt hat. Jedoch lässt es sich nicht vermeiden dass Kunden sie unbedingt sehen wollen und unsere Verkäufer "dumm reden". Abgesehen davon hat es diverse Erpobungsfahrzeuge im Umlauf.
Leider hat es sehr viele "unqualifizierte" Verkäufer bei unseren Händler, das wird immer ein Problem bleiben.
