SLK/R171 Placed U.S. Order; Bi-xenon headlamps not available now

Placed U.S. Order; Bi-xenon headlamps not available now

I just placed an order with my dealer for an SLK350 and am #1 on their list. He says we'll find out the build date sometime next week. BUT, there is a glitch. The MBUSA computer will not allow them to order the following option:

319 - Lighting Package: SLK-Class (Optional) Bi-xenon headlamps with heated washers

The dealer is trying to find out why the option is restricted and when it might come off of restriction. Has anyone else run into this problem? In the meantime, I'm placing the order without the Bi-Xenon package and hoping to add it back in sometime before the cut-off for making order modifications.

I'll post updates as they are received.

I just sold my C230 today and I'll be putting my order with Europena Delivery soon. Just a question: do they give you an estimate on the final price? What other options have you added to your SLK? Which color?

Here's what I ordered. Sorry, no AMG package. No price was available but the dealer told me I would pay straight MSRP. I'm guessing the whole thing will run in the low to mid 50's.

- Iridium Silver exterior (my slk320 is Magma Red and I wanted a change)
- Black interior
- 7-speed Automatic Transmission
- Comfort Package: SLK-Class (Optional) 8-way power driver and passenger seats with 3-position memory, and power adjustable steering column with memory
- Lighting Package: SLK-Class (Optional) Bi-xenon headlamps with heated washers (Removed for now...hope to add back)
- Heating Package: SLK-Class (Optional) AIRSCARF neck-level heating and heated seats
- Premium Package: SLK-Class (Optional) Automatic climate control, rain sensing wipers, HOMELINK garage door opener, auto dimming mirrors, variable power steering, IR remote roof automation, interior ambient light package
- Entertainment Package: SLK-Class (Optional) COMAND headunit, harman/kardon Logic7 surround sound system, glovebox-mounted 6-CD changer

I'm trying to find out about this as well. I don't hold much expectations because it is going to be a hot seller for a few months therefore I don't see a good reason for MB to give a discount. I contacted MarcusBenz and he is going to check with MB USA to see if that's possible. I hope I'm wrong on this and we can all enjoy a 5 or even 7 percent discount. C'mon MB USA give us some incentive to buy this POS !!!!

Wow ! That sounds sweet ! My C230 is Magma Red as well and I think I'll go with blue or silver with black/red interior. As for options, I think you got the right packages so it is a nice list to keep handy when I go to the dealership

Do they give you an estimated delivery date?
As I mentioned on another post, I just sold my C230 and in a week or so I'll be taking the metro to go to work 'til November when I expect to take delivery in Germany. It is going to be a long, long wait !!!!

But, boy, we all are going to be rewarded

Availability

The auto magazines seem unanimous in reporting SLK350 first showroom availability in the US as September. That would suggest build dates as early as July 2004 and there will probably be vehicles stocking up at the Vehicle Prep Centers in August so a VIP or two will probably be able to have one jetted over or released from the VPC before the rest of us get to see one at our dealers.
